Xbox's 2TB Galaxy Black Series X Is Now Available To Buy

Rather than follow tradition and release a slightly more powerful version of its current console, Xbox has gone in a different direction this generation. As PlayStation made preparations for the PS5 Pro's reveal, Xbox unveiled three new models of the Series X and Series S. Not more powerful and improved upon in a technical capacity, but different designs and more storage, and all three of them are now available.

Pre-orders for the three consoles have been available for a while, but today's the day that the trio of Xbox consoles is finally released so you can just hop online and buy one. The headliner of the three is the Galaxy Black Series X. Similar to a regular Series X at first glance, the Galaxy Black edition has a speckled pattern, making its outer shell look like the sky at night if the stars filling it were Xbox green instead of regular old white.

The same shade of green can be found on its stand and the back of its matching controller. The best part of all about the new Series X is its storage. 2TB of it just in time for what will almost certainly be a sizable Call Of Duty game launching on October 25. That's the biggest Series X yet when it comes to storage and the same amount of free space as the PS5 Pro for $100 less. It won't be able to make Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth look better, though. In fact, it won't be able to play it at all.

If you'd like a Series X for quite a bit less than that and you don't need 2TB of storage, also available to buy starting today is the Robot White Series X. At $450, cutting the console's storage in half reduces its price by quite a bit. Xbox making this an all-digital option also helps its price. The first Series X without a disc drive, if you've got physical games you want to play, or you plan to pick some up in the future, this isn't the Xbox for you.

  Xbox has given its cheaper Series S a storage boost four years on from its launch. While the newer console model looks the same as the original, its 1TB of storage is twice as much as you get with the base console.

Last but not least, unless you're talking about the price, is the new Robot White Series S. Yes, it is identical to a standard Series S on the outside, but not on the inside. The cheaper Xbox console option has had its storage capacity doubled to 1TB. That upgrade makes this Series S model $150 more at $350, but that's still $100 cheaper than the cheapest Series X, not to mention $100 cheaper than a refurbished PS5.
