Nintendo's New Yoshi Toy Can Eat Stuff With Its Extendable Tongue
Nintendo has revealed yet another Yoshi toy that's slated to release this summer, and somehow this one is going even more viral than the ones we've already seen this year. That's because this latest in a growing line of new Yoshi toys has an extendable tongue to replicate what Nintendo's dinosaur can do in the games.
Introducing Yum Yum Yoshi
Jakks PacificIt's called Yum Yum Yoshi, and its big reveal this week came in the form of a video demonstrating what it's capable of and how it works. To activiate the toy's tongue, you have to push it forward and then tilt the head back. The tongue will then pop out of Yoshi's mouth and, if your aim is true, grab the fruit that comes with the toy.
Even though this is a toy primarily aimed at children, there have, unsurprisingly, been some reactions to its reveal that range from a little bit weird to downright gross. I won't be sharing those reactions here, but I'm sure you can imagine some of the things people have already said. Unless you have a far purer mind than most of us who are terminally online, in which case good for you, hold onto that.
Yum Yum Yoshi Release Date And Price
According to UK retailer Smyths Toys, Yum Yum Yoshi is expected to be available from July 23, 2026, although you can place your pre-orders now. It's listed at £29.99 on Smyth's website, which means it'll probably cost around $40 in the US. Honestly, that's a lot cheaper than I expected for a toy as interactive as this.
2026 might not have officially been declared the Year of Yoshi by Nintendo, but things have really shaken out in a way that the company's focus has been largely on Mario's dino sidekick. Yoshi was introduced to the Mario movie universe in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, he got a new game via Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and this is the third toy of note to be released already this year.
The first big Yoshi toy of the year was the egg you can crack so that Yoshi can emerge from it. The second was also egg-based and technically not a toy, as it was the popcorn bucket that Nintendo paired with the Galaxy Movie. A bucket that could hold a significant amount of popcorn, unlike Bowser's comedically small cauldron bucket.
