Ever since you come to Balta Island in Ys X: Nordics, Grimson Balta will be a major part of the story while also being the strongest mana wielder. After all the fights you've gone through in Ys X: Nordics, Grimson Balta will seem like a slightly easier one since he only has 123,680 HP while also not having a durability bar. This is more of a miniboss in the game, but his consistent attacks and difficult movement will not make you feel like that. Here's what you can expect:

Slash Attacks
These are the most common attacks performed by Grimson Balta where he first swings one axe, then two of them twice, and then rushes towards the active character before creating an X on the last attack.
These attacks are much slower at the start, but they get faster with a red aura instead of green in the third phase when his HP is low enough.
Spin Attack
After a brief period of charging where you see mist all around Grimson, he spins his axe around his body, and the effect of the spin lasts for a few seconds. This can be a decent source of revenge gauge, but you have to time the parry perfectly.
Red Attack
When Grimson Balta gets to low HP, you'll see him start jumping into the air and charging his red attack. This is quite easy to parry, and you can deal a lot of damage when you perfectly parry it the first time.
Tornado Attack
In the last phase, Grimson can turn into a pink tornado and move around quickly on the battlefield. This attack is hard to dodge, and it's recommended to time your parry on it instead.
How To Defeat Grimson Balta
One of the main things you have to remember about the Grimson Balta fight is that his attacks get more deadly as the fight progresses. In the beginning, all his attacks are fairly slow and easy to dodge with little movement from him, making it barely a challenge to deal damage while avoiding it all yourself.
However, as you reach the third phase with Grimson having around 25 percent HP left, his attacks not only get fast, but he also starts moving around a lot more on the battlefield. For this fight, you should avoid skills that have a long charge time since you might end up using it just for the boss to move away.
