As you progress through Ys X: Nordics' story and realize the dangers posed by Griegrs, you'll quickly meet some formidable enemies. One of these will be Joro and her new pet called Ioi. The latter will be a giant monster capable of easily destroying everything in its way, including people and massive walls.

Ioi Overview And Attack Pattern
Even after meeting all the bosses in Ys X: Nordics, Ioi will still feel like one of the most intimidating enemies because of its massive physique and loud roars. To complement its bulkiness, Ioi has a whopping 17,000 HP pool that you'll have to get rid of. However, the worst part is that it regenerates its durability bar twice during the battle after the first removal.
Having 75 strength and 82 defense, this boss can easily walk all over you unless you understand its attack pattern. This is especially true because your characters will be quite weak when you fight it:
Attack Name
Description
Claw Attack
You'll see Ioi commonly bend to the ground and move its claw in an arc-shaped path. This attack is pretty far from its body, and you'll automatically dodge it as long as you stay close while attacking.
Leg Stomp
With how much taller Ioi is compared to Adol and Karja, it'd be surprising if it didn't try to stomp on them. This boss commonly lifts its legs in the air before stomping the ground, and this serves as the best attack to build your revenge gauge.
Due to its predictable nature, you can simply press the parry button as soon as the leg starts moving back to the ground and get high multipliers on duo skill damage.
Red Attack
You'll likely see this attack from the boss after getting rid of its first durability bar. In it, you'll see a red glow around the boss' body for a couple of seconds before it throws its entire body on the ground.
This attack deals a lot of damage, so you can just run away from the boss to dodge it if you're not confident with the parry timing.
Blue Attack
This is another commonly seen attack after the boss' first durability bar is drained, and you can easily dodge it by pressing the dash button as soon as you see the blue waves coming at your character.
It becomes easier to dodge this if your characters are farther away from the boss.
Rush Attack
The final attack you'll see the boss occasionally perform is where it runs a short distance and then either punches the air or the ground depending on your position.
During the last phase (after the boss regenerates its durability for the second time), it'll start using all these attacks one after another.
How To Defeat Ioi
Now that you understand how to dodge every attack performed by the Ioi boss, the next step is to figure out the best way to defeat it. Since this battle is quite early in the game, it's highly recommended to stock up on some health potions and eat one of the lunch boxes that can provide you with a battle buff as soon as it starts.
These can have a huge impact during the early stages. Another thing you'd want to consistently use is the Double Smash duo skill. If you look at this skill's description, you'll notice that it has a whopping three and a half bar of Break damage, which is phenomenal for breaking Ioi's durability bar.
If the durability bar is already broken, you can instead use the Cross Edge skill to deal higher damage.
Both these skills get a massive boost with the Revenge multiplier, which is also easy to build for this boss due to its leg stomps. Once you master these two duo skills, you can easily beat this boss without losing much health.
