Ys X: Nordics is one of those games that start quite slow, but it opens up regularly as you progress through the main story. At first, you'll essentially have to go through a bunch of dialogue with little fighting until you reach Balta Island, where you'll be tasked to undergo a trial to make Adol and Karja shield brethren.

Lecto Island Main Area Guide
As you get close to Lecto Island, you'll have to dock the ship on the back side since there will already be a Griegr ship at the front. After disembarking, progress into the land a bit and then you'll find a spot where you can mana string to the other side.
After this, you can simply head deeper into the island until your path gets divided between two. Take the right path here (left on the minimap) and go to a higher platform. Here, you can use another mana string to get to the other side and enter the cave to continue the story.
You'll find various giant boar enemies here, and it's recommended to focus on dodging their attacks before you try to hit them.

You won't be able to find Buried Treasure when you first arrive on Lecto Island. Progress the story until you unlock mana sense to start getting these.
Cavern Of The Rite Area Guide
Once you enter the cavern, you'll have to go through a bunch of rooms before you reach the end. Some of these rooms will contain various traps while others will be filled with enemies. You'll commonly see rooms with pressure plates at the start. You can simply sprint through these since the sprint will also help you dodge the projectiles that get launched upon touching the plates.
The first room will require you to time your movement to dodge the moving boulders, while the second one will spawn four enemies that will consistently perform speed attacks for you to dodge. After dodging one of these attacks, you can get close to them and launch a buffed attack to deal high damage.
In the next room, you'll have to use Karja's mana burst near the higher platform to jump to it and proceed. Defeat all the enemies in the next couple of areas and use Adol's burst to destroy the thorn walls so you can proceed. As you continue through these rooms, you'll eventually have to face a miniboss called Ziomander.
This boss has quite a chunk of HP, but you can easily defeat it by focusing the highest damage-dealing skills on it.
After progressing enough, you'll reach a big room with some Griegr in it. Defeat them and use the path on the right side towards the other end of the room to get higher. Here, you'll have to use Adol's burst before finding a lever that'll open the door past the room. Next, you'll have to get past a room with both traps and enemies.
You can simply mana string to the Griegr and then defeat them before moving forward. At this point, you can reach the final room and trigger the boss fight against Ioi before beating Lecto Island.
