Rare candy lets you skip the middle stage to take a Pokemon straight towards its final Evolution. This means getting a Charmander to become a Charizard before your opponent has a chance to knock it out. This improves the speed of many decks so that they can fight back more efficiently against meta threats.

8 Vs Seeker

If there must be a limit to what you can get from the discard pile, then VS Seeker is one of the more balanced options. This card lets you get back a Supporter card from your discard pile, which would mean an extra copy of Sabrina or an extra change to get a Giovanni.

However, this card would benefit many decks that rely on Blaine to power up their Pokemon or Lt.Surge to move around their Electric Energy. Cards like these are vital, but with only two copies per deck, can severely limit what those decks can do.

7 Energy Removal

Another classic card that is simple but goes a long way towards balancing the game is Energy Removal. It lets you discard one Energy from one of your opponent’s Pokemon. This means slowing down your opponent’s plays or forcing them to dedicate another Energy towards powering up their Pokemon.

Energy Removal is a solid choice to appear in Pokemon TCG Pocket since it slows down some of the fastest decks in the game, such as Pikachu and Starmie. It would also find use when you don’t want your opponent to have enough Energy to pay for Retreat Cost.

6 Defender

Defending Your Pokemon From Damage

While Pokemon TCG Pocket lets you increase the damage done to your opponent’s Pokemon, there are very few ways to cushion damage. One method players have of lasting an extra turn is by using Potion which recovers 20 HP from one of your Pokemon.

A card like Defender, on the other hand, reduces the damage done to one of your Pokemon by 20. While both cards seem the same, they play differently. This protection from 20 damage can be used before your Pokemon takes damage. Thus, it can help nullify some one-hit knockouts Moves.

5 Pokemon Flute

Pokemon Flute is a unique card found in the base set of the Pokemon TCG. It brings back one of your opponent’s Basic Pokemon back to their Bench. This is a killer way of getting an easy target on the field for you to Sabrina into and score an easy point.

However, with Pokemon TCG Pocket changing the exact details of how cards work, it could easily be more balanced by letting your opponent choose what to bring back. This means giving your opponent an extra chance to Evolve their Pokemon but also getting that vulnerable Pokemon on the Bench.

4 Mr. Fuji

Want a card that can save one of your best Pokemon but also refill your deck? Mr. Fuji will do the trick. This classic card from the Fossil set of the Pokemon TCG allows you to shuffle one Pokemon and every card attached to it back into the deck.

So say you have that Charizard on the brink of being knocked out, Mr. Fuji can get all three pieces back into the deck. This gives you another chance to set it up again but with the balance you don’t get it back into your hand immediately.

While Poke Ball can seek out a random Basic, Ultra Ball is just a few tweaks away from working in Pokemon TCG Pocket. With 20 card decks, you need to ask yourself whether you’d rather have a deck that can consistently get your board set up or one with more options, such as Sabrina or Giovanni.

2 Trick Coin

There are many Pokemon that have coin-flip Moves but with no way to get a do-over. Trick Coin would help make these Pokemon Moves a bit more viable since you get a second chance to flip. However, the restriction of only working on Pokemon prevents it from making Misty overpowered.

Trick Coin would also be balanced, since it doesn’t undo your bad coin flips, but makes you flip again from the start. So it would be best used on cards that flip once. However, players would still be able to risk it all on other cards that make you flip multiple times.

1 Missing Evolutions

Too Many Pokemon To Pick

With so many Pokemon cards in the TCG, it’s tough to pick which cards should be added, but one thing is for certain, there are some Pokemon that would make great additions to the game. There are plenty of Basic Pokemon that can evolve one step further including Onix which can evolve into Steelix and Scyther which can go into Scizor.

Meanwhile, many alternate lines to Pokemon already exist in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Slowpoke can go into Slowking, Gloom into Bellossom, and Poliwhirl into Politoad. Just giving the players these options can turn deck building upside down.
