Another event season passes without a mention of some of the most highly anticipated games still yet to receive a concrete release date. In an era of frequent delays and the looming presence of Grand Theft Auto 6 at the end of the year, it makes sense that studios are being slightly more cautious about giving away actual dates.

However, a few of these games are ones that we've heard almost nothing about except some vague hints and short trailers. Will they actually ever come out, or are they destined to fall into perpetual video game limbo?

10 Nivalis

While researching for this list I rediscovered Nivalis. This cyberpunk life simulation game looks utterly beautiful, with a colourful and over-the-top art style that immediately piqued my interest. It's a proper slice-of-life sim, too, with business management, character relationships, fishing, apartment decoration, and lots more.

ION Lands is the team that brought us Cloudpunk, that cyberpunk game about delivering parcels. It looks like the studio has taken that art style and sort of game - carrying out menial tasks in a cyberpunk city - and expanded on it. We've got a rough release window of 2026, but nothing more than that.

9 Judas

Judas is an upcoming FPS from Ghost Story Games, and Ken Levine's first video game project since BioShock Infinite way back in 2014. The reveal trailer released three years ago and since then we've got very little news about the game at all, and definitely no release date.

Although we're still waiting, I think a modern iteration of BioShock set in space might just be worth waiting for, and maybe it's for the best that we all sort of forget about this one until it finally arrives.

10 Best Indie Games Of 2026 So Far

Here are my favourite indies of 2026 so far.

Posts By  Harry Alston

8 Light No Fire

Light No Fire is one I'm personally extremely hyped for. Although I've never been able to get in No Man's Sky, that has mostly been because I just got into the game too late. There are so many systems and tasks and menus in that game that I find it totally overwhelming whenever I try to play it.

The idea of getting in on the ground for Hello Games' next massive open adventure - this time set on one huge planet, riddled with fantasy creatures and things to explore - has me very excited. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see Light No Fire for quite a long time.

7 Marvel's Blade

Marvel's Blade is one of those that I'm just not sure about, and yet I'm still holding out some faint hope. This is mostly because of a single message from the lead concept artist on the game, Jean-Luc Monnet at Arkane Lyon, who responded to rumours that the game might be canceled because of Xbox layoffs, with "Let us cook." Although that's hardly anything to really go by, it does suggest that Blade is still in the works in some capacity.

Despite the lukewarm reception to Redfall, and the fact the game was, well, just bad, I'm still optimistic that the studio with the pedigree of games like Deathloop, Prey, Dishonored, and Arx Fatalis, have got what it takes to make a truly great Blade game.

6 Beyond Good And Evil 2

Um, yes, Beyond Good And Evil 2 is actually still in production. Thank you very much. We first saw the game in 2008. That is not a joke. It was shown at E3, an event that doesn't even exist anymore. Its previous outing, back in 2017, was also at E3 - which, I repeat, no longer exists.

That means the game has been in development for at least 18 years, and it's still in development at Ubisoft Montreal. The game is already old enough to drink in the UK, and it hasn't even been released yet.

5 Kingdom Hearts IV

I do not pretend to understand Kingdom Hearts, and I certainly don't understand Kingdom Hearts IV, but that's okay because we've got news editor George Foster on hand to cover absolutely every single angle of this game, including: fans complaining about floaty combat, the game featuring a new build mechanic, returning mechanics from previous Kingdom Hearts games, and so much more.

We still have no idea when this game will release, although there might be a small hint that it's getting a 2027 release date.

4 The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red

I'm still sort of bemused that we're even getting a Witcher 4 because it all seems to be happening so fast, which is, of course, total nonsense. The Witcher 3 released in 2015, which actually makes this long overdue sequel. I'm a huge fan of the books so I'm very excited to see Ciri take centre stage, and everything we've seen so far of the game looks sublime.

We still have no release date for The Witcher 4, and it could still be a long, long way off, but we do have an upcoming Witcher 3 DLC to tide us over until then.

3 Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

I'm not a massive fan of Marvel games or the Marvel universe in general and yet Marvel 1943 has me completely hooked, as I love the idea of a Marvel story set during an unusual time period - this time occupied Paris during the second world war.

Since the 2024 story trailer we've heard very little about the game, and I did sort of expect to get more of a glimpse of it in 2026. Perhaps in the latter half of the year? Thankfully, the game is still in development despite it missing its original early 2026 release window. I can't wait to see Captain America and Black Panther beating the hell out of each other, to be honest.

2 Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

There was nothing new for fans of Intergalatic: The Heretic Prophet at the summer State of Play, which has left everyone wondering what is going on with Naughty Dog's next title. I think this might just be a case of Naughty Dog showing the cards way too early, as I think there might still be a good couple of years before we get anything properly concrete regarding Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

We may even see the launch pushed onto new hardware, with a new report suggesting that the PlayStation 6 is actually still three or so years out. Keep holding out, gang, we'll get there eventually.

1 The Elder Scrolls VI

It was never going to be any other game at the top of this list, and you knew that even when you clicked the link. The Elder Scrolls VI is, as yet, little more than a whisper, a whiff, a mere Skyrim-shaped smudge of an idea.

There's not much more to be said than what we already know and have discussed a thousand times, although we did get a promise that Xbox is definitely going to reveal the Elder Scrolls VI at some point, so I guess we all better just get to waiting. See you in 2030...possibly?
