Looking for some helpful hints when it comes to Sea of Thieves fishing? As of the Sea of Thieves Anniversary update, you can now add a fishing rod and bait to your inventory, and set out in your sloop. Brigantine, or Galleon to catch a variety of beautiful fish. Of course, there's more to this mechanic than getting to view some marine life up close as with the new The Hunter's Call Trading Company you can cash in your prize catches for a variety of rewards.

Alternatively, you can cook these beautiful creatures and eat them for hefty health over time buffs that an unpeeled banana just can't provide. Undercook them and you'll make yourself sick, overcook them and you've wasted a perfectly good meal, however if you cook the meat just right you can earn even more doubloons when you sell it.

So if you're angling for some fishing advice then keep reading as we've got a breakdown of every fish species and most of their varieties, what bait you need to use, where to find them, and how much they're worth when cooked.

Sea of Thieves cooking guide

When it comes to cooking your catch there are a few things you need to watch out for to ensure you're not undercooking or burning your fish. A perfectly cooked fish will net you a 50% bonus when you sell it, so it's worth doing, especially for a trophy fish.

For starters, you need to have the raw fish in your hand and approach the stove and skillet below deck on your ship. A prompt will appear letting you throw your fish on the heat. You need to watch this intently until you see the steam starts to thin out, the fish to lose some of its colour, and for the fish eyes to go completely white. Trophy fish will take a lot longer to cook, but if you get it just right then you can quadruple what you'd get from selling straight from the ocean.
