And with that the Summer Game Fest is over. At least, the official Geoff Keighley showcase - there are still many more streams over the weekend. I wouldn't say there were many surprises, but it was excellent to get a first look at games like Alien Isolation 2, Fumito Ueda's genAtlas, and Guild Wars 3.

Resident Evil Veronica announced at long last

Resident Evil Veronica World Premiere Trailer | Summer Game Fest 2025 Watch on YouTube

There have long been rumours that Capcom were remaking Resident Evil - Code: Veronica, first released on the Sega Dreamcast 26 years ago. the newly announced Resident Evil Veronica looks to be much more in line with its recent first-perosn horror games than the originals tank control third-person. It's also unclear if the events still take place in the same timeline. All I can say with certainty is that the reveal trailer features a very charming French biscuit box.

Happily, you don't need to rely on me, Edwin has written something much more learned than me, as he is a keen Resident Evil-liker.

Alien Isolation 2 revealed

Alien Isolation 2 Reveal Trailer | IGN Summer of Gaming Watch on YouTube

We knew Alien Isolation 2 was in development, but this is the first we've seen of Creative Assembly's return to its survival horror series in 12 years. The action, as Edwin suspected, has moved from a spaceship to a colony. Very much an Alien to Aliens move. There wasn't a great deal revealed in the trailer, but it's great to see Creative are ready to start talking about it.

You can read about the news in more detail in Edwin's much fuller and more thoughtfully written news story.

Fumito Ueda's Project Robot announced as genATLAS

gen ATLAS Reveal Trailer | Summer Game Fest 2026 [English Version] Watch on YouTube

First announced at The Game Awards 2024, Fumito Uda's Project Robot is back again, this time with a full title and trailer. GenATLAS immediately captures what Ueda does so well: scale. This is a game where you play a dinky little human in a barren sci-fi world, helping restore and control a colossal robot. Obviously, from the maker of Shadow of the Colossus, I should expect this, but it's still a breathtaking contrast. Unlike Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, which were all PlayStation exclusives, GenATLAS is coming to PC.

If you want more considered words, then you will find them over in Edwin's post on genATLAS.

Runescape: Dragonwilds 1.0 release date announced

RuneScape: Dragonwilds - Release Date Trailer Watch on YouTube

After 14 months in early access on Steam, Runescape: Dragonwilds is just about ready to leave the coop eyrie. Jagex have announced that it'll be hitting full release on September 15th. Along with a great big fancy 1.0 next to its name, it will also get a new region, the Scorned Wilderness.

New Blood Message trailer

Blood Message - Story Intro Trailer | IGN Summer of Gaming Watch on YouTube

Speaking of scale, the battles on show in Blood Message are mighty dramatic. Granted, the trailer for NetEase's singleplayer action game set in East and Central Asia, is purely cinematics, but it gets across the scope of what they're trying to make. This looks to be an epic telling of a soldier trying to cross a continent to deliver a message. A little like 1917, if it were set in China's Tang dynasty instead of, you know, 1917.

Platinum Games reveal Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin | Announcement Teaser Watch on YouTube

With a trailer that shows off basically nothing, Platinum Games have nonetheless got my blood pumping. The developer behind so many great games, but relevantly Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, are making a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. James has the full details.

Stranger Than Heaven release date announced and Tupac revealed

STRANGER THAN HEAVEN | Tupac & Cast Reveal Trailer Watch on YouTube

The new game from Yakuza developer RGG Studios is set across multiple time periods and cities in Japan and Mark's already a fan from what he's had the chance to see. As well as a new trailer revealing that long-dead rapper Tupac will feature as a character alongside Snoop Dogg, RGG announced the game will be out on January 15th, 2027.

Mark isn't even supposed to be working tonight, but he couldn't resist popping online to write about Tupac appearing in Stranger Than Heaven.

Multiplayer shooter Haex announced

HAEX - Official Announcement Trailer | IGN Summer of Gaming 2026 Watch on YouTube

A new game from a new developer, Dead Astronauts, this is a four-player co-op first-person shooter where you head into some completely normal looking woods to save some missing scientists. Unfortunately, while the woods are normal, the wierd aliens that hunt you and your friends down are, sadly, quite bizarre and violent. On top of the extraterrestrial fauna, you'll also need to survive the elements. Brill.

Gundam Rogue Orbit announced

Gundam Rogue Orbit - Announcement Trailer | PS5 Games Watch on YouTube

A new game from Bandai Namco, Rogue Orbit lets you climb into a giant robot suit and fight against even more giant beasts. It looks to be people who wish Monster hunter was just a touch more Gundam.

Ex-Naughty Dog developers announce Crossfire

Crossfire | Announcement Trailer Watch on YouTube

Formed about five years ago, That's No Moon is a studio of former Naughty Dog developers. Their debut game, Crossfire, looks at first flush to be a military sim game, with two soldiers trying to stay ahead of an unseen enemy hunting them. Though, towards the end of the trailer, it reveals itself to be quite a bit more sci-fi. It may be a sign of how late it is when I'm writing this but all I can think right now is that, with that title, the game will be about an angry inferno.

New Control: Resonant trailer is an absolute bop

CONTROL Resonant – Paranatural Manhattan Trailer | Summer Game Fest 2026 Watch on YouTube

I was going to skip past this Control: Resonant trailer. Not because it's not good, but the show is starting to get away from me, and we already know this game is coming and it will likely be a gem. But, well, then I heard the trailer song. It's an absolute bop. So, do enjoy.

Guild Wars 3 revealed

Guild Wars 3 | Announcement Trailer Watch on YouTube

The rumours were true, ArenaNet are working on a new MMO. I won't lie, when the trailer first began I thought it might be something to do with Highguard. The focus looks to be on movement and momentum, which built on top of the last game's dynamic world events could make for a much more exciting world to be a part of. The beta is due to start next year.

Fresh Star Wars: Galactic Racer story trailer

Star Wars: Galactic Racer™ | Official Story Trailer Watch on YouTube

In a sign that Fuse Games are continuing to do something frankly absurd, the developer have managed to not only slightly burnish the reputation of the Phantom Menace, but they've even made Sebulba not look truly awful. Truly, impressive work.

End of Abyss reveal trailer gives off Reanimal energy

End of Abyss - Official Reveal Trailer | IGN Summer of Gaming Watch on YouTube

Third-person horror game End of Abyss is giving me strong Reanimal vibes, although you are much better armed than the children in Tarsier's games. Here you look to be facing monstrous creatures in a mysterious underground compound. I mean, I say you're better armed, the things you're facing look to shrug off bullets like they were flicked rubber bands.

It's out on October 1st.

The Last Harbor reveal trailer almost looks pleasant until the zombies turn up

Last Harbor | Reveal Trailer | Open World Multiplayer Zombie Survival Watch on YouTube

The start of the Last Harbor trailer almost looks a good time. the player is swimming in the ocean and then comes up on a rickety tub they call home. They fish off the side and look out over the ocean. Lovely stuff. Then they go to a zombie-infested island looking for loot. It turns out Last Harbor is a co-op survival game with very little chill at all.

Virtua Fighter Crossroads announced

VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS | Official Reveal Trailer Watch on YouTube

Sega's Virtua Fighter is coming back, but not as a side-on fighting game. Instead it looks to now be a story-driven, third-person action game. Perhaps that's just the framing of the trailer, but it certainly looks to be an interesting direction to revive the series.

This is definitely an overreach ut it's very late at night... I'm getting Sleeping Dog vibes. There, I said it.

New game from Assassin's Creed creator 1666: Amsterdam (re)revealed

1666 Amsterdam - Reveal Trailer | IGN Summer of Gaming Watch on YouTube

Patrice Désilet's has been beavering away on 1666: Amsterdam for more than 15 years, but it looks like it might actually come out. If you want the full convoluted story of why it's taken Désilets so long to get the game over the line, Edwin has recounted its potted history. After Désilets' last game, Ancestor: Humankind, you would be forgiven if you wanted to take a eat before being excited for 1666. Happily, a 30-minute prologue has been released on Steam, so you can see if it's a game worth waiting for.

Saw Genesis revealed

SAW: Genesis | Reveal Trailer | 3v1 Multiplayer Horror Game Watch on YouTube

Not content to work on the Silent Hill 2 remake and a new game in their Cronos series, it looks like Bloober Team are also working on a Saw game. As you can see from the trailer, there is some deeply gruesome horror fun to be had. That is if you enjoy the sight of people putting their hands into pipes filled with sharp blades, you sicko.

Unlike Bloober Team's normally solo efforts, Saw Genesis is a 3v1 horror game that pits one player in the role of the Judge, and the other three plating as The Accused.

Star Wars: Zero Company release date confirmed alongside new gameplay trailer

Star Wars Zero Company | Official Gameplay Trailer Watch on YouTube

Now this is what I've been holding out for over an hour of this deluge of trailers, some footage of Star Wars: Zero Company, the turn-based tactics spin on the galaxy far far away from the makers of Firaxis' XCOM. Gosh it looks pretty and fun. Pump it into my veins. Oh, and right at the end there is Anakin.

The leaked release datehttps://www.rockpapershotgun.com/star-wars-zero-company-release-date-leaks-ahead-of-summer-game-fest-and-its-xcom-ish-star-warring-isnt-too-far-far-away of August 27th also turns out to be true. Bad luck for muggins here, who will be at Gamescom and not able to sit in a dark room and play with toy clone troopers.

Blood of Dawnwalker trailer reveals present day storyline

The Dawnwalker Saga — A Glimpse Into The Future Watch on YouTube

A new trailer for Blood of Dawnwalker, the vampiric RPG from some of the creators of The Witcher just got a new trailer and – as well as showing off a lot of bloodletting – it also revealed that the game is set over multiple timelines. While initially the game looked to only be set in a medieval past, there is also a storyline that takes place in the present day. Which, considering it's about immortal vampires, does track.

Single player Among Us Story: On Guard revealed

Among Us Story: On Guard 🔎 Reveal Trailer Watch on YouTube

If, like me, you are forever losing friends and alienating people by accusing the wrong people in games of Among Us, then you may be pleased to learn there is a new singleplayer spinoff. In Among Us Story: On Guard, you need to solve the mystery of all the gruesome murders occurring before you get accused, but at least it's not real life flesh and blood people doing it.

Edwin has the full story over.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance revealed

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance - Reveal Trailer | PS5 Games Watch on YouTube

If Rogue Orbit looked to have too much Gundam for you and you would have been happier with non-mech-suited humans fighting giant beasts, then has Capcom got good news for you. I give you newly-announced expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.

Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush revealed

Hot Wheels™ Infinite Rush - Announcement Trailer Watch on YouTube

While it's true I do like my racing games Dirt Rally-shaped, I can be tempted out of the grit and sand traps if the track is a big orange plastic loop de loop. So, yes Hot wheels: Infinite Rush is for me.

Clutch story trailer revealed ft. Brian Butterfield

CLUTCH // Official Announce Trailer Watch on YouTube

While Clutch looks to be telling a po-faced story about deaths in motorsports sending a racer into a life of crime, as soon as you have Peter Serafinowicz in a game I will just be thinking "Bon bon bon bons" over and over. Though the trailer does look fun.

Palworld 1.0 release date announced

Palworld 1.0 Cinematic Trailer Watch on YouTube

Palworld, the legally distinct from Pokémon monster catching game, has an official 1.0 release date: July 10th. Weil that isn't very far away. You can see something of what's coming in the cinematic trailer above.

The Wolf Among Us 2 reveal trailer

The Wolf Among Us 2 Reveal Trailer | Summer Game Fest 2026 Watch on YouTube

We've known that The Wolf Among Us 2 has been in the works for several years already, but it's nice to see that it's actually coming together. Granted, it's reveal trailer was eight years ago and there was an official reveal trailer four years ago, so there's still a chance it's going to be another four years until we get an actual game...

I'll admit, I dropped out of the Telltale games after the first season of The Walking Dead (poor Lee), but I'm happy for you, long-starved Wolf fans.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain reveal trailer

Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN | Official Reveal Trailer Watch on YouTube

A sequel to 2023's Stellar Blade, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain had me fooled, I won't lie. The cyberpunk-aesthetic, the train station, the vial of strange amber liquid… I was hoping for something to do with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. But, once I got past that disappointment, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain did look pretty nifty.

Final Fantasy VII: Revelation trailer shows off conclusion to remake series

FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION - Reveal Trailer Watch on YouTube

Six years since the first part of its remake and a decade since the return to the most famous Final Fantasy title was first announced, Square Enix have revealed Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the concluding part of the remake trilogy. I'm the wrong person to ask, as I never got past the first disc of the original, but I have it on good authority that this run of remakes have been great. Hopefully Square Enix can stick the landing.

As well as the reveal trailer, Square Enix did a bit of a dive into what Revelation is adding in the remake

FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION - Gameplay Introduction Watch on YouTube

But, don't worry, you don't need to rely on my inexperienced Final Fantasy thoughts, Edwin has written a much fuller account of what's on offer in Final Fantasy VII: Revelation.

There is still a bit of a wait, however, with a its release pencilled in for "Spring 2027".
