I've been playing a bit of Beyond Blue this week, E-Line Media's fish-filled diving adventure that was inspired by BBC documentary Blue Planet II. The fish are very good in it, swishing and flipping and flopping all over the place with an impressive level of detail and authenticity. Except when I deliberately swim into them and they don't bat a metaphorical eyelid or shimmy out the way, that is. But I'm willing to look past those small, incidental flaws because they are generally very good sea buddies. And it got me thinking about other video game animals: specifically horses, because they're pretty much a mandatory staple of any big game these days. But also the fish's natural-born predator, cats.
