Everything announced in Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase
The Xbox Games Showcase is here to bring you the latest news about Microsoft's console. That means new reveals, updates on existing games and important announcements like release dates. As is tradition now, the showcase will end with a dedicated direct on a specific title. This year the game in question is Gears of War E-Day, so make sure you catch that too if it's on your 'To Play' list.

Looks like Gears of War is starting and ending this showcase! That's right the showcase began with a nice look at the Gears of War E-Day gameplay. The trailer gives us an excellent look at the combat - blood splatter and all - including an attack on a supermarket. There's even a chainsaw!
E-Day is set 14 years from the beginning of the original game and follows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago as they attempt to survive Emergence Day. Also known as the day the Locust Horde decided to emerge from the ground to invade the world of Sera. Make sure you watch the E-Day Direct to learn more!
Gears of War E-Day will be released on 6th October 2026 for Xbox Series X/S. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.

The release date for Fable may have sadly been pushed back till 23rd February 2027, but it's certainly grand to see it make an appearance during tonight's showcase! (Though I will admit to being glad it won't get into my time with Control Resonant.)
Simply titled Fable, this game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S (Day One on Game Pass) and returns us to the world of Albion. Choice and consequence are once again major aspects of gameplay, with the world around you and your avatar itself being subject to its whims. Have a good heart and goodness will (hopefully) flourish, but if you choose to walk a crueler path then you make come to reflect your deeds. Going with a more fairy tale vibe this time, the game will begin by centering around the Heroes' Guild but I'm sure your adventures will take you further afield. (And maybe even under hill.)
This new trailer was a mixture of humor and worrying events narrated by Isabel Hero of Wraithmarsh who definitely has some baggage… We also got a little snapshot of a possible villain!

The Xbox classics were truly out in force for the beginning of this showcase! Guns, aliens and explosions - what else do you want from Halo: Campaign Evolved? Set before Halo: Combat Evolved, this will see you on a mission to infiltrate a Covenant ship. This trailer gave us a little look at the gameplay and the promise of three new missions too.

Return to the world of A Plague Tale in this prequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem. Here you'll play as Sophia - a young woman on a quest to discover the secrets of her past. Events take a turn, however, when she lands on Minotaur' Island and events become far more dangerous than she expected.

We all knew it was coming, but it's always nice to have something confirmed! The Persona 4 remake - titled Persona 4 Revival has been revealed. Uncover the mystery behind the Midnight Channel and channel your Persona once again!

In the mood for some zombies? Then State of Decay 3 is right up your alley. Take on the role of a group of survivors to build up a community and kill as many zombies as possible. Just watch out - the zombies have started hunting you as much as you're hunting them.

Time for an update from Sea of Thieves. Custom seas is an upcoming free update where you'll be able to create your own game modes, like Skeleton Snipe Hunt, or whatever you fancy. There will also be new advanced camera controls to help you do so!
Customs Seas will be arriving in Sea of Thieves on 18th June 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 5. It will be available from Day One on Game Pass.

Next we got our first proper look at the gameplay for Metro 2039, the latest in the game series inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro series. Metro 2039 will see you undertaking the role of the Stranger - the first fully voiced protagonist in the game series - who returns to the Moscow Metro system, which doesn't appear to be doing all that great after the events of Metro Exodus. A brutal new regime, the Novoreich, has taken over and it looks like you're the only person who's capable of taking it down.
Metro 2039 will be released in February 2027 for Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Senua is the next Hellblade game despite not actually having Hellblade in its name. This change is to highlight how Senua is a full blown action-adventure game. This means more choices in combat like being able to use the environment to your advantage, a bigger world to explore and more puzzles.
Senua will be released in 2027 for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. It will also be on Game Pass as one of the Xbox Play Anywhere titles. You know the drill - Game Pass, Day One.

After this came some grimdark sci-fi shooter actions with a look at the Revelations DLC (a full campaign expansion) for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Are you ready to slash more demons to pieces with a sword? Are you ready to shoot off some heads? Then Revelations is for you. This trailer also gave us some insight into the DLC's storyline, but it was mostly glorious violence.

The last time we heard any word about this entry in the Crazy Taxi series was during The Game Awards 2023 when Sega mentioned during a trailer they were working on it. The Xbox Games Showcase took to the skies next as we took a look at the upcoming update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Focusing on the United States, it will add a number of national parks and monuments to the game. This includes the Great Smoky Mountains, Rocky Mountains, Bryce Canyon and, of course, the Grand Canyon.
The World Update 22: National Parks will fly into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on 4th July 2026 (fitting) for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC. National Championship Air Races will arrive in Autumn 2026. It will be available on Game Pass from Day One.

Okay, this game is right up my alley. Hand-drawn anime-style graphics? Check. Life-sim adventure? Check. Non-linear narrative? Check. Vivarium lets you step into a magical world as Jenny, but there seems to be more afoot in these long summer days.

Persona fans unite, Persona 6 has been announced! (And you thought we were only getting one Persona game during this showcase.) It's been 10 years since Persona 5 and the leaks for this upcoming title have been strong, but it's always nice to have confirmation. Persona 6 will once mix a supernatural adventure with daily life. Though the trailer does suggest a more horror-focused vibe this time around.

The little purple dragon is getting his first new game since 2008! (Yes Spyro Reignited Trilogy came out in 2018, but that wasn't a proper new game really.) Spyro: A Realm Beyond sees Spyro take to the skies again, with the trailer showing him having a fun flight and some hints at the foes he'll be facing.

The Xbox Games Showcase then returned to the world of Clockwork Revolution, introducing us to a range of new characters who are all aiming to undertake a heist. The best way to rob people though is to change the timeline and that's what you'll be doing in Clockwork Revolution. Along with fighting some clockwork monsters and hopefully making friends with the clockwork dog I spotted in the trailer.

2026 wouldn't be a real year without a new Call of Duty game and during this Showcase we got a look at Modern Warfare 4. The main focus of this trailer was the game's extraction shooter mode - DMZ. Coming with a new Korean map called Jajin, DMZ will have its own narrative, player bounty system, dynamic weather and an operating base for each player. It's here where you'll be able to access useful features like a gunsmith and firing range.
