2025's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine remaster that was inexplicably exclusive to PC and Xbox seemingly on its way to PS5 and Switch 2
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - Master Crafted Edition, the remaster of the classic Relic action game, was released in June last year, less than one month after its initial unveiling. Curiously, however, the remaster was only announced, and released, for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
The Xbox console exclusivity didn't make much sense then, even though the game launched into Game Pass. Plenty of games launch on the subscription service on day one, but that doesn't prevent them from being released on other platforms.
This may soon change, however, as the game appears to be on its way to more platforms. The US' rating board, ESRB, has rated the Master Crafted Edition for PS5 and Switch 2.
Warhammer 40k Space Marine Master Crafted Edition [Announce] Watch on YouTubeSince the added platforms were spotted on the game's ESRB rating page, the page has been curiously updated to remove references to PS5 and Switch 2. However, using Internet Archive, you can see that the page was updated in the last several days, likely to remove mention of the two other platforms.
This is not likely to be an error. What's more likely is that the ESRB simply leaked the announcement ahead of time, and the platforms will be re-added to the page once the new ports have been officially announced.
The only really disappointing news here is that The Master Crafted Edition doesn't appear to have been received well. On Steam, it's currently sitting at a Mixed user review rating, which is an improvement over its Mostly Negative launch rating. Hopefully the PS5 and Switch 2 ports won't suffer a similar fate.
