How to Craft Ammo in Fallout 4

First and foremost, you’ll need to acquire the Contraptions Workshop add-on. This add-on introduces the Ammunition Plant, a game-changer that allows you to convert junk into bullets. However, before you can embark on this exciting journey, you must meet several requirements. These include having one rank in Science! and Gun Nut perks. Once you’ve achieved these milestones, you can proceed to gather the necessary materials to craft the Ammunition Plant.

Here are the crafting materials needed to build an Ammunition Plant:

  • Circuitry x2.
  • Gears x3.
  • Rubber x4.
  • Steel x10.

Once you’ve successfully built the Ammunition Plant, you’ll need to supply it with eight power. The best part? You don’t even need to connect it with a wire, making it a breeze to maintain. 

How to Use the Ammunition Plant in Fallout 4

To unlock new ammo recipes, you need to rank up the Gun Nut perk. Once unlocked, you can find and use these recipes by using the terminal. Meanwhile, if you want to create batches of bullets, an Ammunition plant can produce 10 bullets every 10 seconds. However, keep in mind that you can only access one ammunition plant through the terminal. If you want to mass-produce ammunition using multiple ammunition plants, you’ll need to power each plant independently on a separate network.

The table below shows the type of ammunition you can craft in the ammunition plant, the Gun Nut rank requirement, and raw components. However, you cannot craft ammunition from Nuka-World and Far Harbor add-ons.

To make crafting ammunition easier, you can load the Ammunition Plant with junk that produces the required raw components. For example, you can load a pencil to craft .50, .44, and .308 ammo.
