How Paint Mode Works

Paint Mode is one of MECCHA CHAMELEON’s core mechanics, allowing hiders to disguise themselves by matching the colors of their surroundings.

Press F to enter Paint Mode, then customize your camouflage using the available tools.

The fastest way to blend in is by using the 3D Eyedropper. While Paint Mode is active, press Space to sample the color of a nearby object and instantly apply it to your character.

You can further refine your disguise by:

  • Adjusting the brush size using the on-screen controls.
  • Using the Shadow Tool (V) to modify lighting and shadows for a more convincing appearance.
  • Rotating and zooming the camera to inspect your camouflage from different angles.

How to Change Your Pose

Press R to open the pose adjustment menu.

Changing your pose allows your character to better match nearby scenery, making it easier to disguise yourself as part of the environment. Experimenting with different poses can help you fit naturally into objects and hiding spots across each map.

Movement Tips for Better Hiding

Movement is just as important as camouflage.

Use Ctrl to crouch and squeeze into tighter hiding spots, or press Space to jump and climb onto elevated surfaces that may be difficult for seekers to check.

Combining smart positioning with effective camouflage is often the key to surviving until the end of the round.

Tips for Seekers

If you’re playing as a seeker, mastering the camera tools can make spotting hidden players much easier.

Useful controls include:

  • Left Mouse Button to eliminate discovered hiders.
  • Display Names (2) to toggle player names.
  • X-Ray Rendering (3) to inspect cluttered areas more effectively.
  • Free Camera (5) for an alternate view when available.

Learning when to use these tools can help uncover players who have blended seamlessly into the environment.
