How to Enable Advanced Parkour in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Advanced Parkour returns in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, giving players far greater control over Edward Kenway’s movement. While the default parkour system includes safety features that help prevent accidental falls, enabling Advanced Parkour removes many of those restrictions and allows for more precise traversal across rooftops, cliffs, and ships.
Here’s how to turn on Advanced Parkour and what changes once it’s enabled.
How to Enable Advanced Parkour
Advanced Parkour is disabled by default and must be activated through the gameplay settings.
Follow these steps:
- Open the Pause Menu by pressing Esc on PC or the Start/Menu button on consoles.
- Select Options.
- Open the Gameplay tab.
- Scroll down until you find Advanced Parkour.
- Toggle the setting On.
The new movement system takes effect immediately, allowing Edward to perform more advanced freerunning techniques.
What Does Advanced Parkour Do?
Enabling Advanced Parkour removes many of the automated movement assists found in the standard control scheme, giving you greater control over every jump, climb, and descent.
The system rewards deliberate inputs instead of automatically guiding Edward to nearby ledges, making movement feel more manual and skill-based.
Parkour Up and Parkour Down
One of the biggest changes is the separation between upward and downward movement.
Parkour Up
Holding the Parkour Up button tells Edward to prioritize climbing and gaining height. He will look for opportunities to vault upward, mantle ledges, and continue moving across rooftops.
Parkour Down
Holding the Parkour Down button focuses on descending and horizontal movement. This makes it much easier to drop from rooftops, move between lower platforms, and perform controlled descents without fighting the game’s movement assistance.
More Freedom While Traversing
Advanced Parkour also unlocks techniques that are difficult or impossible with the standard movement settings.
These include:
- Manual jumps across wider gaps
- Side ejects
- Back ejects
- Intentional drops from rooftops
- More precise movement during parkour sequences
Because the game no longer prevents risky jumps as aggressively, you’ll have much greater freedom to create faster routes through cities like Havana and Nassau.
Landing Roll
Advanced Parkour also introduces a landing roll, which helps maintain momentum after long falls.
To perform it:
- Hold the Dodge button while falling.
If timed correctly, Edward rolls upon landing, reducing the impact and allowing him to continue sprinting without losing speed. This is especially useful during chase sequences or when moving quickly through urban environments.
Is Advanced Parkour Worth Using?
If you enjoy mastering Assassin’s Creed’s movement mechanics, Advanced Parkour is well worth enabling. It offers more precise control, smoother traversal options, and greater freedom when navigating the Caribbean. While it also makes accidental falls more likely, experienced players will appreciate the added mobility and the ability to perform advanced freerunning techniques that aren’t possible with the default movement settings.
