Claiming What’s Due is one of the early story missions in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. During the quest, Edward Kenway infiltrates Torres’ estate to rescue the Sage, but first he must obtain the Prison Key from the compound’s warden.
Here’s where to find the Prison Key and the easiest way to retrieve it.
Where to Find the Prison Key
After meeting Stede Bonnet, head to Torres’ estate to begin the infiltration.
The main entrance is guarded by two soldiers. You have two options:
- Eliminate both guards with a double assassination.
- Enter stealthily through the gap in the wooden fence to the left of the entrance.
Once inside the estate, make your way to the western side of the compound and climb the stone staircase leading to the upper level.
The Prison Key is carried by Warden Sotelo, who can initially be found in the central courtyard addressing a group of guards.
How to Get the Prison Key
There are two ways to eliminate the warden.
Quick Approach
Climb onto the rooftops overlooking the courtyard and wait until Warden Sotelo is directly below you.
Drop down, perform an aerial assassination, loot the Prison Key, and prepare to fight or escape from the alerted guards.
Stealth Approach
If you’re aiming to remain undetected, wait until Warden Sotelo finishes speaking to the guards.
After his speech, he walks away from the courtyard and becomes isolated. Follow him from the rooftops and assassinate him once he’s out of sight of the other soldiers. This lets you collect the Prison Key without triggering a large fight.
How to Rescue the Sage
After obtaining the Prison Key, head to the prison cells west of the courtyard.
Unlock the Sage’s cell using the key to trigger the next cutscene and complete Claiming What’s Due, allowing the story to continue.
