Bungie dropped Destiny 2 Update 9.7.0.1 on June 16, 2026, and it is a longer list than most players expected from a hotfix. The headline bug? The Shattered Throne 4-piece set bonus “Truth to Power” was actively increasing the damage you take, not reducing it or buffing your output. That is confirmed directly in the official patch notes.

Destiny 2 Hotfix 9.7.0.1: Quick Reference Guide

System LayerBalance Modifications & Activity FixesStrategy & Ranked Meta Impact

Shattered Throne Set

(Truth to Power)

* Resolved a critical bug where the 4-piece set bonus actively multiplied incoming damage instead of reducing it.

* Corrected the logic so the scaling buff safely mitigates incoming damage values up to 999 stacks.

Equip Gear Safely: If you shelved this dungeon armor piece thinking the endgame sandbox felt overtuned, it is completely safe to wear and masterwork again post-patch. Master Conquest & Pantheon

* Re-enabled Master Conquest: Conductor’s Keep (resolves a legacy spawn-point progression block for Guardian Rank 8 / Conqueror).

* Fixed Pantheon soft-locks: Calus shadow realm banishes and missing direction prompts.

* Fixed Consecrated Mind enemy spawn omissions under the Battalions feat.

Clear Feat Challenges: Fireteams chasing completionist sweeps can now cleanly trigger 5-feat runs on the Consecrated Mind node without missing vital combatant waves. Dungeon Drops

* Fixed hidden chests across multiple instances dropping lower-tier gear than the selected difficulty.

* Final Encounter Fix: Resolved an absolute drop failure for the Wish-Ender Catalyst in Shattered Throne.

Farm Wish-Ender: Head back into the throne room to clear the final boss loop. The exotic bow’s catalyst drops are fully functional across standard clears. Armor Mod Energy

* Corrected armor mod energy deficiencies on select post-Edge of Fate Exotics earned before Monument of Triumph.

* Exclusions: Armor lacking a designated stat archetype and all Collections-pulled items are ineligible.

* Hazardous Propulsion Fix: Rocket procs multiply correctly per life on Rally Barricades without Shieldburst.

Check Vault Rolls: Inspect high-tier wild armor drops obtained during previous updates. Eligible armor pieces will automatically feature their missing armor mod capacity.

Weapon Rebalances

* Collective Obligation Catalyst: Fixed progress tracking failure; kinetic kills no longer erroneously consume tracking logic.

* Zephyr Sword: Re-aligned right-column traits that rolled into left-side perk trees.

* Pit of Heresy: Tier 5 weapon drops correctly roll with their assigned Origin Traits.

Progress Outbreak Catalyst: Equip Collective Obligation directly to build catalyst numbers naturally. Gun-kills now count toward objective requirements. Class Abilities

* Titan: Howl of the Storm applies appropriate Stasis Freeze mechanics onto major bosses.

* Warlock: Heat Rises yields standard initial directional acceleration on Strafe/Balanced Glide frames.

* Hunter Nerf: Fixed Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun scaling unintended damage into frozen targets.

Alter DPS Phasing: Fireteams can no longer exploit Warlock Shadebinder freezing mechanics to let Celestial Nighthawk Hunters instantly delete high-health bosses. Quests & Artifact

* Weakened Clear: Fixed a bug causing the mod to overheat blasters rather than clearing heat stats.

* Moon Bounty: Eris Morn’s Slow-Wave Disruption rewards a guaranteed Tier 5 Moon Weapon (Hymn of Desecration removed).

* Xenophage Quest: Fixes inventory capacity block on the Strange Hive Tablet chest.

Claim Moon Gear: Turn in weekly Moon bounties for instant Tier 5 weapon drops. Clean out your Consumables inventory to unblock “The Journey” quest line at Eris.

Cosmetics & General

* Shader Fixes: Automata, Olivaceous, and Digi-Teal UI rendering assets restored to normal.

* Hunter Polar Wolf Set: Grab the missing 6th ornament from the Special Deliveries kiosk.

* Armor Synthesis: Bounty completion tracks reset entirely, granting 10 fresh tokens.

Refill Synthweave Pots: Pick up your 10 newly allocated Ada-1 bounties per class immediately to restart your armor ornament transmog farm for the season.

If you have been running the Shattered Throne dungeon set as your endgame loadout and wondering why you are dying faster than you should, this patch explains a lot. The fix is live now.

There is a lot more here too: activity re-enables, weapon catalyst fixes, class ability bugs, Eververse ornament corrections, and a quest fix for a classic Exotic. Below is every change that matters for your current grind.

The Set Bonus That Was Punishing You Instead of Helping

The Shattered Throne 4-piece set bonus, named “Truth to Power,” had a bug where it was increasing the damage players take rather than working as intended. Bungie did not specify how much extra incoming damage this was applying, but the fix is now live and the set is safe to wear again.

What makes this particularly wild is that the set bonus stacks up to 999, and the community had actually been posting about the stacking mechanic as an intentional callback to the Truth to Power lore book. So while players were theorizing lore connections, some were getting hit harder every time the buff ticked up.

If you pulled this set and thought the content felt harder than it should, it was not a skill issue. Equip it again post-patch.

Activities: Master Conquest Is Back and Pantheon Is Cleaned Up

Master Conquest: Conductor’s Keep is re-enabled after a spawn point bug forced Bungie to disable it. This activity is a requirement for Guardian Rank 8 and the Conqueror seal, so its absence had been blocking progression for anyone trying to complete that grind.

Three separate Pantheon bugs were fixed in this patch:

  • Objective directions were missing entirely during the activity

  • Calus was occasionally skipping the shadow realm banish step, causing soft-locks in that encounter

  • The Consecrated Mind encounter was not spawning enemies correctly when the Battalions feat was enabled, which was blocking five-feat clear attempts for fireteams going for the feat challenge

That last one is big for anyone chasing completionist runs. The Consecrated Mind is already one of the trickiest Pantheon encounters, and the missing enemy spawns made coordinated feat clears basically impossible on that node.

Dungeon Fixes: Wrong Tier Rewards and a Missing Catalyst

Hidden chests across multiple dungeons were giving rewards that did not match the selected difficulty. If you were running a high-difficulty dungeon and the hidden chest was spitting out lower-tier loot, this was the cause.

The Shattered Throne’s final encounter was also not dropping the Wish-Ender Catalyst, full stop. That is now corrected. If you were farming completions hoping for it and coming up empty, now is the time to run it again.

Two soft-lock bugs were patched as well:

  • In Savathûn’s Spire (Fireteam Ops), unblocking the bells too quickly during the Shielded Ogre encounter could freeze the entire activity

  • In Kell’s Fall (Pinnacle Ops), dying near the boss room entrance and respawning on the wrong side of the door locked players out of the encounter

Both of these were annoying enough in normal runs. In timed or challenge contexts, they were outright run-ending.

Armor Mod Energy Fix (And Why Most Players Won’t Get the Boost)

Some Exotic armor pieces obtained before Monument of Triumph launched had less available energy for Armor Mods than intended. Bungie is correcting that, but the scope is narrow.

The fix only applies to non-Collections, post-The Edge of Fate Exotics that have an assigned stat archetype. Specifically:

  • Armor without an assigned stat archetype will not gain extra energy

  • Exotics you pull from Collections will not gain extra energy

So if you grinded out a specific roll on a newer Exotic before Monument of Triumph dropped and it has an assigned archetype, check your mod slots now. Everyone else is unaffected.

Hazardous Propulsion also got a fix: the Exodus Rockets perk was only firing once per life when using a Rally Barricade without the Shieldburst aspect equipped. Running Hazardous Propulsion without Shieldburst should now give you multiple rocket procs per life again.

Weapons: Catalyst That Wasn’t Progressing, Traits in Wrong Slots

Collective Obligation’s catalyst was one of the more frustrating bugs in this patch. It was only counting kills from the kinetic slot weapon, not kills from Collective Obligation itself. If you have been grinding catalyst progress and your numbers seemed off, this is exactly why. Post-patch, kills from Collective Obligation will count as they should.

Other weapon fixes in the patch:

  • Zephyr (Dawning sword): Right-column traits had rolled into the left column. Bungie will update existing rolls automatically in place, replacing them with what should have appeared in the left column originally

  • Certain craftable weapons could not have their gear tier increased at all

  • Tier 5 Pit of Heresy weapon drops were missing an Origin trait entirely, which affects perk synergies and mod interactions

Class Ability Bugs Fixed: Titan, Hunter, Warlock All Affected

All three classes had at least one ability working incorrectly before this patch.

Titan: Howl of the Storm was not applying the correct type of Stasis Freeze on boss combatants. This would affect Stasis team compositions where the Titan’s aspect was expected to contribute to freeze stacking or boss freeze thresholds.

Hunter: Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun was multiplying damage to frozen boss combatants at an unintended rate. The community had been using this to instantly delete bosses by combining a freeze setup, like a Shadebinder Warlock or Stasis grenades, with an immediate Celestial Nighthawk shot. That interaction no longer works the same way after this fix.

Warlock: Heat Rises was not giving the expected initial directional acceleration when activating Strafe Glide or Balanced Glide. This made aerial positioning less responsive than it should be, which matters for movement-heavy builds using Heat Rises as a core part of their loop.

The Weakened Clear artifact mod was also doing the opposite of its job, overheating blasters when triggered rather than clearing their heat. That is fixed.

Quests and Pursuits: Free Tier 5 Moon Weapon and the Xenophage Fix

Eris Morn’s weekly Slow-Wave Disruption bounty now rewards a guaranteed Tier 5 Moon weapon. It previously gave Hymn of Desecration, which had no function after the Moon reward pool was updated. Existing Hymn of Desecration items are safe to dismantle.

The Xenophage quest “The Journey” was blocked for players who had a full Consumables inventory when they opened the Strange Hive Tablet chest. Those players will now see the quest available next time they speak to Eris on the Moon.

Eververse, Shaders, and Cosmetic Fixes

A few cosmetic issues were cleaned up that had been frustrating collectors and fashion-focused players:

  • The Automata shader from the Cut and Drape Pack was invisible in the shader selection list. It is now findable and equippable

  • The Olivaceous shader from Monument of Triumph was showing the Winning Look shader’s appearance instead of its own

  • The Digi-Teal shader from Dawning 2025 was showing the New Old City shader’s appearance

  • Hunters who bought the Polar Wolf Set were only receiving five of the six ornaments due to a bug. The full six-piece set now drops on purchase, and anyone who bought the set since Monument of Triumph’s launch can grab the missing ornament from the Special Deliveries kiosk in the Tower

  • Hushed Practice, a no-music version of the Positive Practice emote, has been added to the Special Deliveries kiosk and is free to claim for anyone who already owns Positive Practice

General Changes Worth Knowing

The NLS Courier ship from Spider is now accessible to any character that has completed the Renegades campaign quest. Previously some players were blocked from picking it up even after finishing the campaign.

World Pool Engrams now drop Techsec, Swordmaster, and Bushido armor sets. The previous sets have been rotated out.

Armor Synthesis bounty completions have been reset, giving everyone a fresh 10 available to start. You can continue earning one additional bounty per week per class going forward.

Finally, the Tessellation Exotic weapon description has been corrected. It now accurately states that only the standard edition of The Final Shape is required to purchase it from the Monument to Lost Lights, not the Annual Edition. If you were holding off on buying it thinking you needed the Annual Edition, you do not.
