The Mizutsune is beloved by players due to its majestic appearance and the engaging challenge it presents in combat. It has two states, which are Normal and Enraged. In the latter state, its attacks deal more damage.

Mizutsune’s attacks consist of bubble attacks that inflict bubbleblight, water attacks that inflict waterblight, tail attacks, and body slams. If you stay near its head, it may also try to bite you, which can cause you to stagger. Here’s how to deal with a Mizutsune in the Monster Hunter Wilds Mizutsune quest:

  1. Armor Recommendations: Gore Magala, Lala Barina, or Uth Duna armor
  2. Elemental Weaknesses: Ice, Thunder, and Dragon
  3. Recommended Weapons: Great Sword, Hammer, Dual Blades, Light Bowgun

  • You can shoot or pop the bubbles with ranged and melee weapons. However, do so only from a safe distance or when you’re certain that the Mizutsune isn’t charging up another attack.
  • Mizutsune’s water jet attacks are great opportunities to dish out full combos. It will stay in place for quite some time during these attacks.

Completing the Monster Hunter Wilds Mizutsune quest “Spirit in the Moonlight” grants players the following rewards:

  • 150 Guild Points

After this quest, you can get the optional quest “Bubbling Crimson Flowers” from Alma. This will allow you to hunt the Mizutsune repeatedly for its armor set and other drops. When you reach HR  41 and complete “What Lies Ahead,” the Tempered Mizutsune will start to spawn in the Scarlet Forest.
