Ratthew is one of the most mysterious NPCs in Animal Hospital, arriving with clues about the hospital’s dark past and the disappearance of his sister. By helping him across several encounters, players can earn Ratthew’s Key, which unlocks a hidden safe containing secret lore and new story details.
How to Unlock Ratthew’s Key
Unlike most visitors, Ratthew appears multiple times throughout the game and has unique dialogue during each encounter.
To receive his key, you must meet him five times while ensuring he survives every visit.
Ratthew first appears during Shift 3, followed by appearances on:
- Shift 4
- Shift 6
- Shift 7
- Shift 8
He may also appear during Shift 9, so keep an eye out if you’ve missed one of his earlier visits.
Protecting Ratthew during each encounter is essential. If he survives all required appearances, a special fifth meeting becomes available.
Ratthew’s Final Encounter
During the final event, Ratthew walks to the reception area and sits beside the inner counter.
He shares the story of his missing sister, explaining that she once worked for Animal Corporation before disappearing under mysterious circumstances. According to Ratthew, nobody has seen her since.
After finishing his story, he thanks you for your help before leaving behind two items:
- A note
- Ratthew’s Key
The note explains that he secretly stole the key from one of the hospital’s doctors. Once you pick it up, the key is permanently added to your inventory.
How to Use Ratthew’s Key
With the key in hand, head to Room 5, located near the end of the hallway on the right side of the hospital.
Inside the room:
- Find the cat poster on the far wall.
- Interact with it to tear it down.
- Reveal the hidden safe behind the poster.
- Use Ratthew’s Key to unlock it.
What’s Inside the Hidden Safe?
Opening the safe reveals several items tied to the hospital’s ongoing mystery:
- A Top Secret suitcase resembling the one often carried by Ron from Accounting.
- A note claiming an experiment was successful and that a mysterious shadow now roams the hospital.
- A photograph of Rattina, Ratthew’s missing sister.
What Does the Key Reveal?
While the contents of the safe don’t explain exactly what happened to Rattina, they offer some of the strongest clues yet about the hospital’s hidden experiments and the secrets surrounding Animal Corporation.
Rather than providing definitive answers, Ratthew’s Key expands the game’s ongoing storyline and suggests that the mystery of his sister’s disappearance will likely continue in future updates.
