Ancient Legacy of Azul: Item Guide

An Item guide for those who forget what item does what (like me), and for those who want to spoil the feeling of discovery when unlocking each item in the journal.

Item types intro

I’m not doing a full guide/beginner guide, so I’ll just write a little and get to the “good stuff”.

So, if you have played Risk of Rain, most of the variety will be known to you. The main difference is that while RoR had active items equiped, here we have equipped items that are passive, but can be upgraded.

Now, for you who never heard about Risk of Rain, I suggest you take a look into them, it’s a great game, both 1 and 2, with the 1st one being very similar to Ancient: Legacy of Azul, but with a space/alien/future theme. 😀
So, there are 4 item categories: white, blue, yellow and pink. This mainly dictates its price, specific power/effect and/or rarity to get in a chest. They make you stronger, some more or less than others depending on the class you choose and the build you are trying. For most of them, the more the merrier. But for the pink items you can only equip one at a time. They give a substantial positive effect that can be upgraded with a specific currency (Azul Cristals, the blue Orb on the upper left corner of the screen). If you buy another copy of the same pink item they will not stack!

Now then, to the goodies!

White Items

Image Name Description Whetstone Increases critical hit chance by +10% (+10% per stack) Iron Amulet Increases Armor by +10 (+10 per stack). Practice Sword Increases attack speed by +15% (+15% per level). Rusty Flintlock 10% chance on hit to inflict 0.3x (+0.3x per stack) additional base damage. Coconuts Halves Increases Movement speed by +10% (+10% per stack). Bottomless Quiver Grants 1 (+1 per stack) additional use of your secondary skill. Push Dagger +10% (+10% per stack chance to inflict bleed on hit. Gnarled Root Increase health regen by +2 (+2 per stack) hit points per second. Lucky Rabbits Foot Increases dodge chance by +10% (+10%, nonlinear scaling). Cannot exceed 90% dodge chance. Apothecary Belt After not receiving damage for 2 seconds, increase health regen by 4 health per second and 1% (+1% per level) of max health per second. Armor Polish Increases Resistance by +20 (+230 per level). (?) Field Rations After not moving for 1.0 seconds, heal for 4% (+2% per stack) of max health per second. Monk’s Sash Increases jump height by +15% (+15% per stack). Distilled Ectoplasm On Hit, decreases target’s movement speed by 20% (+20% per stack) for 1.5 seconds. Lamp Root Increases light radius by +25%(+25% per stack). Priestess Mask Receive 2 (+2 per stack) health on hit. Hits with lower proc chance will heal for less. Warhammer Increases Hit weight and Knockback by +30% (+30% per stack). Hound Vambrace Increases damage to enemies within 20m by +15%(+15% per stack). Crow Bracer Increases damage to enemies beyond 40m by +10% (+10% per stack). Bone earring When health is below 40%, increases damage dealt by +50% (+50% per stack). Hunter’s Medallion 20% (+20% per stack) movement speed on kill for 4 seconds.

Blue Items

Image Name Description Pickaxe Adds +10% (+10% per stack) of base damage as additional armor piercing damage on hit. Shuriken 15% chance on hit to launch a shuriken dealing 1.0x (+0.8x per stack) base damage piercing all enemies it hits. Powder-charged Boot Grants an additional jump (+1 jump per stack). Powderhorn On critical hits, targets explode for 0.6x (+0.3x per stack) base damage and increases critical hit chance by +5% (+5% per stack). Has a quarter second cooldown. Bleeding Chalice Increases maximum life by +15% (+15% per stack). Dragonstone On hit, 10% (+10% per stack) chance to inflict burning on enemies dealing 0.5x (+0.1x per stack) base damage per second. Scorpion tail On hit, +10% (+10% per stack) chance to poison on hit. Axe of Alerik On hit, grants a buff that increases attack speed by +10% per stack. Can have 3 (+2 per stack) stacks of the buff. Buff stack is reduced by 1 every 1 second. Shield of Alerik? I haven’t unlocked yet. Jade Dagger On receiving a hit, 50% chance to inflict 1 (+1 per stack) stack of bleed on the enemy that hit you. Polished Monocle Increases Critical Chance by +20% and deals +25% (+25% per stack) addicional base damage when striking enemies at full health. Ram Skull On hit, 10% chance to inflict cripple for 3 (+1 per stack) seconds. Shaman’s Trinket Increases Health Regeneration by 50% (+50% per stack) on kill for 3 seconds. Flame Lash 10% chance on hit to lash all enemies within your light radius for 0.8x (+0.4x per stack) base damage. Preserving Oil When health falls below 10%, heals you for 100 (+100 per stack) health. If the hit would kill you, prevents death. Has a 10 second cooldown. Prikupine On kill, launch 3 prikupine Thorns for 0.7X (+0.7X per stack) base damage each from slain foe. Alchemist Frost 20% chance on hit to inflict 1 (+1 per stack) stack of freeze.

Yellow Items

Image Name Description Star in a Bottle 5% chance on hit for a meteor to fall on your fows dealing 10.0x (+10.0x per stack) damage dealt on impact. Haunted Lantern On Hit, 10% chance to fire a seeking spiri bolt dealing 3.0x (+1.5x per stack) of damage dealt. ? I haven’t unlocked yet. ? I haven’t unlocked yet. Bloodletter Increases Lifesteal on hit by +6% (+6% per stack) of damage dealt. Wurmskull Summons 1 (+1 per stack) spirit that attacks independently of you. Deals 1.5x base damage per hit. Attack speed scales off your attack speed. Liquid Courage Decreases skill cooldowns by +50% (+50% per stack, nonlinear scaling). Cleansing Wand On kill, create a pillar of flame beneath the slain enemy that deals 3.0x (+3.0x per stack) base damage over 2 seconds. Flagellant’s Flail Increases the applied stack size of burn, freeze, poison, and bleed by 2x (+1x per stack). ? I haven’t unlocked yet. ? I haven’t unlocked yet.

Pink Items

Image Name Description Knife of Shar’aia Increases movement speed by 0.5x (+0.5x per tier) of attack speed modifier, and vice versa. Weeping Heartstone Health regeneration is increased by 20% (+20% per tier). Max health is increased by +50% (+50% per tier). ? ? I haven’t unlocked yet. Soul Catcher On kill, enemies leave a soul that travels to the soul catcher to generate charges. Every 2 seconds while charged, fire a soul missile dealing 4.0x (+4.0x per tier) base damage and consumes a charge. At 5 charges, immediately fires 5 missiles and consume 5 charges. Righteous Fury Ignite all foes within your light radius on critical hits. Double critical hits doubles the burning stacks applied. Has a 0.5 second cooldown. Increases Fire damage by +0.25x (+0.25x per tier) and fire stack applied by 1 per tier. Deathmask of Kings Activate all on kill effects when you take damage at 0.5x (+0.5x per tier) base damage centered on you. Brass Crown 20% (+10% per tier) chance on a skill cooldown starting to reset all skill cooldowns and restore all skill uses. Totem of the Crow On kill move all bleed, burning, frozen, and poison stacks from the killed mob to a target within 10m (+10m per tier). ? I haven’t unlocked yet.
