Updated on September 11th at 12:50: EA has been in touch to tell us that the game won't be getting a soft launch as this story originally said.

"As for timing, EA are not planning to soft launching next week as some outlets have reported, but will go into a soft launch period and then a worldwide launch in the next few months."

SimCity Buildit has just been revealed for iOS and Android. I say revealed, but I pretty much just told you everything we know about it in ten words.

According to our pals at Pocket Gamer France, it's a free to play game, and apparently it's set to enter soft launch sometime next week.

The last SimCity game was SimCity for PC and Mac, and it didn't go down terribly well. And EA's last attempt to turn a beloved franchise into a mobile game, Dungeon Keeper, didn't go down very well either.

Still, we'll keep an open mind, because we're nice like that. And we'll let you know when we hear anything a little more concrete about SimCity Buildit.
