The AVGL have revealed that they will be hosting a North American collegiate Counter-Strike league in conjunction with CEVO.
The American Video Game League is one of the most popular platforms for collegiate esports; now, the league has revealed that they will be adding CS:GO to the their list of games for the 2015-2016 season. The league will be hosted by CEVO, who will provide the servers for matches, and will feature $5,000 in cash prizes as well as products from the two main sponsors. GX Gaming and EK Water Blocks.
The league will follow a relatively standard format: all participating teams will be split into groups of eight, each of which will be played out round-robin. The top team in each group will then move on to the playoffs, which will use a double elimination bracket. All matches in the league will be played out in a best-of-three series.
Registration will be limited to college students with a valid educational email address, with each college or university allowed more than one team. For more information about signups, head over to the CEVO tournament page.
