D2CL #6: Team Liquid walks home with $25,000 in their pockets
After a 3-1 defeat of Empire, Team Liquid are the champions of the Dota2 Champions League season 6 and will be walking away $25,000 richer.
After managing to qualify for the The Defense #5 a few days ago, Team Liquid have managed to continue their streak of good results, claiming first place at the Dota2 Champions League after a 3-1 defeat of Team Empire in the best-of-five grand finals, relegating Empire to a second place finish.
The third and fourth place teams were decided via a best-of-five between Golden Boys and OG, OG managed to take the series 3-1 and walk away with a third place finish and a $7,500 share of the prize pool.
Team Liquid's results have been improving quickly; Liquid lost to Alliance and OG a few months ago in the Frankfurt Majors qualifiers, but have now proven that they can take down Empire, a team which took down OG 2-1 in the D2CL brackets. Liquid's recently good results do not portray them as a consistent team, dropping games to CIS Rejects, Golden Boys and 4C&L, teams who are arguably weaker than OG and Empire, are signs of their inconsistency.
