After spending many hours the last couple of days on GosuGamers' popular betting system GosuBet, we can happily announce the rebirth along with the first season. The initial launch of GosuBet turned out to be a success, with over 13,000 bets on the total ~120 matches added in the beta stage. In the StarCraft community, there were no competitive online betting for the international scene (excluding Liquibet because of its focus on the Korean scene) at all. GosuBet did not only introduce the hottest 1on1 matches for you to bet on, but also nation and clan wars, which we have had a lot of. The WGTCL Division 1 replays was a weekly-based betting with 4 bets each week. And with WC3L Season VIII coming up, the bettings were very interesting, especially in the clan scene.
With this feature, we want to let you know on the recent changes and the future plans for GosuBet.
1 MONTH SEASON FOR GOSUBET
Last time GosuBet was open was during the beta stage. Now we and the system is ready for the first season. Each season spans over a month, which benefits the newcomers to the scene, who might not have to start in the middle of it all and never reach up to the amount of minerals the others have. Once a season is over with, the minerals will be resetted, and start all over again. The winner of the seasons will, not only get special prizes offered by GosuGamers, but also be shown in a "hall of fame" showing all the GosuBet winners.
PRIZE FOR SEASON 1 - BLIZZCON TICKET
GosuGamers have been given a few tickets for BlizzCon, the Blizzard event hosted in Anaheim, USA later this fall. One of those tickets cost $120 USD which is according to the latest poll, too expensive (and far away). GosuGamers are proud to present, thanks to Blizzard Entertainment, a free ticket to the event if you manage to be the best better for season 1. The BlizzCon entry ticket will allow you entrance to the offline Blizzard event during 28th to the 29th October.
WHAT'S MINE IS MINE
We would also like to use the minerals in a kind of awarding system, say having a profile picture of yourself, a nice presentation, good behaviour and such. Also, some more well-awarded actions, things that have helped the scene in an important way. We call this award "What's mine is mine" and it will grant the award winner 500 minerals bonus. Although, keep in mind that we will never give away minerals in tournaments, forum post spamming or something similar.
DATABASE LADDER ADDED
We have, together with this launch, integrated the database with the GosuBet. Each gamer, clan and national team will now receive a rating and a ladder ranking, based on their results in matches added to the GosuBet. The amount of rating you gain or lose in a match is using a modified ELO system, in which you gain different amounts depending on the size of each event. For example, World Cyber Games Grand Final has level three while a regular tournament final has 0.5. At the end of each month, we'll conduct a list of the top thirty and what changes have been made in the ranking, just like the KeSPA except no Koreans are included in the ladder.
