When we approach sponsors who might be willing to sponsor events, they ask us about our organization. Sennheiser, for example, would not be interested in knowing how awesome the GosuBet is, that we had almost 10,000 unique visitors during the Team Liquid Tour, or the fact that Entropy just got back as a news reporter. No, they're interested in whether GosuGamers is a company or not, how experienced we are within the gaming scene, how much money we got, what sponsors we have and which other companies we have relations with or are partnered to.
Our answers would, as of today, would not be satisfying.
Nevertheless, if we even though do attract companies interested in our organization, they ask us what games we cover. Replying that we only cover Starcraft simply doesn't suffice. If our reply is instead that we're covering StarCraft, WarCraft and Blizzard's latest release, World of WarCraft, we look very attractive especially because World of WarCraft is commanding advertising attention. This leads us into a position where we can get sponsorship not only for WoW, but sponsorship for StarCraft as well.
StarCraft would still be a game very interesting to sponsor if it required a lot of graphical rendering and high computer specifications in order to be played. The fact is that ABIT, Intel and nVIDIA are not interested in sponsoring a StarCraft event because they can't sell new hardware to the target group playing StarCraft, not because the game itself is dying.
I believe that if GosuGamers would expand to WarCraft 3 today, the immediate and most spontaneous feedback from our users would be accusations on how we will betray StarCraft and that WarCraft is not a game worth to cover ~ "it sucks!". It might indeed not hold up to the limits of what we call the almost perfect game - StarCraft - but WarCraft has something that StarCraft has not. It has a reputation within companies who are interested in sponsoring the gaming scene. WarCraft (both WoW and WC3) furthermore requires more powerful hardware, meaning hardware and computer companies are interested in sponsoring a WarCraft site.
Note that a WarCraft 3 and a World of WarCraft section will be separated from the StarCraft section! You will easily be able to remove the games you do not like from a filter in your settings, so that news from these games won't bother you.

At this point, we're unable to do so.
Sending a player to the WCG Singapore from the Nordic countries (and most likely many other places in the World) costs a lot more than sending them to WCG San Francisco. The ICM Group also requires a fee for each player participating which makes it even more expensive. Sending one player from Northern Europe in 2004 cost €700 plus food and travel expenses in San Francisco. Sending one to Singapore costs €2400, more than three times as much.
Donations, you say? Even though a few generous souls have helped, it is a long way from anything practical.
GosuGamers' current cashbox wont get any players to Singapore
This year, we will probably be able to send one player from the Nordic countries to Singapore but it's is barely manageable and it will be very expensive for the participants in the preliminary - not to mention for us as an organization. Thanks to Inferno Online, it seems like it will work out this year but we can't continue on such scarce resources continue to serve our community with the first rate journalism they expect and deserve from GosuGamers.net.
We ask for your support to do what we believe will allow us to better serve the community. We have time and time again proved our faithfulness to the StarCraft scene. We will not betray you, our wonderful community. An expansion to WarCraft is not betraying StarCraft, it is supporting StarCraft. With this expansion, we would be more attractive to partners interested in supporting the StarCraft scene, and we would be able to enter agreements and solutions that we would not be able to do otherwise. Influence and exposure for commercials and banners is necessary in order to build up and support the activities.
We want to continue to work for you and to improve this community, but to do this we need your support! We will not go commercial, ask for sponsorship, add banners, or most importantly, we will not expand to WarCraft - unless you agree to it! We are a site made for and supporting the community, now we just ask that the community support our further expansion.
We want to see the StarCraft community grow, to create better settings for gaming in general, a better attitude and behavior between gamers. This is achievable without a stable treasury or a WarCraft section, however, we want to:
Submit your answer in our poll section!
We will open a poll for one week, starting Monday 30th. Based on the results of this poll we will make our decision - note though that the outcome of the poll will not necessairly be the final decision for the expansion!

”GosuGamers has an interest of constantly covering the World Cyber Games and we put great value into the competition, and the competition results in the event. Our ambition is to send more players from these countries as of 2005, and furthermore to support countries without preliminaries by doing the administrative job to organize such preliminaries. At this point, we're unable to do so.

Our Vision
We want to see the StarCraft community grow, to create better settings for gaming in general, a better attitude and behavior between gamers. This is achievable without a stable treasury or a WarCraft section, however, we want to:
- Support PGTour in everyway to make sure that Bnet-X is hosted successfully.
- Organize several Starcraft World Cyber Games prelminiaries, making sure as many countries as possible are represented in the Grand Finals.
- Live reporting from offline events by sending atleast one reporter from the site for a live coverage.
- Regular online tournaments with big cash prizes, radio shoutcast and coverage + GosuBet.
- Starcraft's inclusion in all the major gaming events; WEG, CPL, ESWC, ESL and ACON.
Does GosuGamers have your support to open a separate WarCraft 3 and World of WarCraft section and to let banners and sponsors be exposed on our site, assuming it takes us to our above presented goals?
