[s]korea[/s]Another player in the game! First Samsung Electronics, then KTF and SK, both giant mobile phone carriers and now a new player: Pantech Group, Korea's third largest cell phone provider. The Pantech Group, on Thursday, said it is in talks with SG Family, a top-notch professional online game squad.
"We try to buy the SG Family franchise to promote our corporate image among youngsters, who are typically the unwavering fans of online games," a Pantech official said.
SG Family is one of Korea's most competitive online gaming teams, with its members including the legendary Lee Yun-yeol. Lee is seen by many as one of the best pro-gamers of Starcraft (who? Nada! for the newblars..)

What do they all want? A piece of this pie:

Market and Projection
Yes, that is, they want the consumer market that the online community is presenting itself to be. They have also realized that not only can they make money with the advertising of their products using online gaming as vehicle, and that they are also catering to us as a consumer market, but also that they can actually make money with the online gaming itself.

You may think, that this only happens in Korea. Let me remind you Samsung Electronics is now putting a considerable investment and show in WCG 2004 and in several preliminaries for the tournament around the world. Maybe Legionnaire, Assem and Rekrul are not so crazy after all. Hang on guys, do your best to sell that image! I smell money coming down your lanes.
