[s]korea[/s]One of the biggest 'whoa'-moments in South Korean Gaming history, was when SK Telecom decided to sponsor Boxer's team with a load of cash, a van and much more. That newspost went through the Internet, and almost everybody who posted it was amazed. If you still don't believe how big StarCraft is in Korea after that, I'll let you in on what I read in a TeamLiquid.net forum post some days ago...
Ongamenet SKY ProLeague - one of the biggest clanleagues in Korean progaming, was reaching its final stage. The team SK T1 (Old 4U) were up to face Hanbitstars in a 4x1on1 and 3x2on2 battle. This was the first round of three in this endeavour.

And if I understand correctly, a baseball all-star game featuring some of the most famous and best Korean baseball players was played at the same time. In » the forum post, they discuss a lot on how big baseball is and is not down there, but nonetheless - an all-star baseball game had around 15,000 people watching it live, and the first round of SKY ProLeague Finals had approximately 100,000 people.
This proves how popular StarCraft is. There's a clip from a news report in korean that you can see. There's an interview with Boxer, pictures and clips from the ProLeague-event and of the baseball-event. You can view it » here.
You can obtain the VODs of the event and find two photos in our previous post earlier this week here » here
How big will the view ratings be the next round? I'll keep you posted. See below a list of all the sources.
