Gamei.co.to, claiming to be the sequel of the famous Korean server with the same name, recently launched their first season. GosuGamers checked it out.

The old Game-i server was extremely popular before it got closed down by Blizzard Entertainment due to them charging players to play on their server. The vanishing of the ladder resulted in several other tries to start similar things. Several groups such as GosuGamers (StarGate), NeoGame-i and PGTour had own servers set up, however none of them are available today.

First season a test

Now it looks like the original might be back on track shortly. A server has been opened for testing and the number of members basicly exploded up to around 10 000. At this very moment there are 140 users online on the server. That's really a lot, considering it's 8:00 in the morning in Korea, and not the time people usually play Starcraft. You would most likely find a game pretty soon after joining.

To get ready to play you will have to do a few things. First of all you will need to add the server to the server list. The easiest way to do so is by simply donwloading » this file and double clicking on it. After that you will need to download » HanStar and start it in order to play on the server.

More information about how to get started can be found in our » forum thread. Above is a picture made by Ntt.AjiRa, showing the HanStar GUI and what each button does. Very useful for us who are not able to understand it.

After that, all you have to do is joining the server and start playing.

Not yet confirmed if it's the same organization as the original

GosuGamers have not been able to find any information about whether it is the same as the old Game-i. Due to the language of their temporary site it's hard to find information except for forum posts. It might as well be a new group using the same name.
