Players: 2 | Tile: Ash | Size: 128x128
Ash Rose is the third StarCraft Mystery-Map designed by Bill307. In the previous set of maps, Bill307 made two maps. This time he only made one, because Blizzard wanted to do one of their own. According to Mora - friend of Bill and designer of the third map in MMI, this is the best map he ever made. "He had some additional balancing help from outside sources that he has not had previously ( that im aware of) so that definately helped alot." he told to GosuGamers.net.
Players: 2 | Tile: Space | Size: 128x128
Blizzard Entertainment have made hundreds of maps, but it was a really long time ago they produced a new map that they made themselves. With this map, they've done a really good job. Mora isn't the one to disagree. "Desolate Platform is a perfect example where the map doesn't have to be perfectly symmetrical. Positionally speaking, the right and left side are very balanced to each other." He also means that the lack of symmetry makes it interesting to look at - aesthetically pleasing.
Players: 4 | Tile: Twilight | Size: 128x128
Created by the Canadian player Mora, the first 4 player map he has ever released. "A typical 2 player map takes me roughly 15 hours to make. This one took me about 10 hours in sketching/design, and an additional 20 in production." he says, meaning he put a lot of work in this one. He considers himself, as a player, above average; saying that this has helped him a lot in creating his maps. He has also had the help of Nazgul and Eriador to help balance previous maps, which is always hard to achieve. "True balance is hard to attain until you have over thousands of games player on a map." he explains, but mentions that for events like this where the players don't get to train the maps so much the maps are well-suited.
"I think that the diversity of the maps, while not guaranteed to balanced (for that's next to impossible) will ensure that the maps played in this tournament will all be unique, and hopefully some good games will come out of it.
While it's definitely a goal to produce the best tournament and competition possible, it's also important to make some good games for the community as well. We don't want fast, one sided wins for every single match. We want entertainment and fun to come out of it as well."
- Mora
He talks of his maps of great depth and passion, and we at GosuGamers believe that we will see more of this experienced map maker, not only in » Team.iD but also in future events as a map maker. Hopefully the players in Team Europe and Team Asia are satisfied with these maps, and that they will figure out some tricks and strategies for the upcoming fight this Saturday!
