- Disruptor, StarCraft referee, commentating about Sweden versus Germany. ToT)Mondragon( - seeded as number one by GosuGamers' visitors - will face ToT)TreK( - seeded as second - in the first round! The two players have a great history together, facing eachother numerous times in both offline and online events - finals in particular. Luckilly for these two gentlemen this is a double elimination tournament.
The third place playoff from WCG 2004 Grand Final, between Christian and Androide will once again be experienced. "Ahh shit, not again!" Christian cried out upon hearing the news.
Maska (brown jacket) interfearing drawings on
stage after being drawn as a Romanian.
One plexiglas box was filled with 16 A4s each having one country written on them. Players were spontaneously offered to go on stage to draw one country each. During the drawings, Romania was initially drawn twice due to a bug in the tournament list at the SEC homepage. Some of you might have noticed that Maska had a Romanian flag at the official website instead of the Uzbekistanian one. As Romania was drawn for the second time, Maska ran up on stage during the ceremony halting the drawings and asking whether he was the first "Romanian" or the second one. It turned out he was the first meaning he is facing BrAiN from Templars of Twilight in the first round.
X-Box designed chair. Neat.
Today, Wednesday, has been a day for rehearsals for tomorrow's opening ceremony. As most of the players are still at the player hotels, Maska and Beast were lucky enough to be appointed flag bearers and could therefore be present at CeBIT today as well, spectating - and in Maska's case interfearing in - the group drawings. As of tomorrow you can expect more pre-talks with players as we are getting closer to competition. Computers have now been customized and installed with patch 1.12b and added language support for German, French and English hotkeys as optional features.
During the finals day (Sunday) some matches will be screened out both over stream and to the spectators being in the CeBIT fair. I am signed up as an official commentator for the StarCraft games together with a WarCraft 3 player from Germany who I unfortunately did not catch the name of yet, however I was told he had been in Korea and from there got some knowledge of the game. It will definitely be interesting commentating in English, high speed, and over the Internet, though the only negative aspect of it is supposedly that I cant make live battle reports from those games. Make sure you go to someone with a good broadband connection if you're interested in watching the stream since it will most likely be heavy lag - something which unfortunately has come to be a standard at WCG events.
Today was basically sitting around waiting for the bus and the competition to start. The referee team, consisting currently only of myself and Disruptor, will shortly be heading back to the player hotels as well, in order to get ready to be up 7.30 tomorrow morning to be refereeing the initial rounds of the tournament.
Don't miss it!
