The official rules for the national preliminaries in World Cyber Games have now been released. There are not many changes, although some changes that will help match disputes have been made. They also announce the new StarCraft maps Gaia, Paranoid Android and Estrella. In the announcement they also say that one more map for StarCraft is coming.



In the official national preliminary rules World Cyber Games have now added a couple of more rules since last time. Apart from the new maps that were written about previously, they have disallowed some in-game actions. The most surprising one was "Overlord + Lurker Stop Position" is no longer allowed. They also made some age changes, meaning that players born after November 16th 1992 needs a parental consent signed by their parents or the legal guardian.

General
- Competition Method: 1 vs. 1
- Age Restriction:
Players born after Nov 16th, 1992 (based on the date of 2005 Grand Final) must submit parental consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian to the tournament staff.
- Match Length: Until the winner is determined
- Match Winner: The player who completely destroys the opponent or if the opponent surrenders

Game Settings
- Competition Mode: Melee
- Race Selection: Free Choice
- Game Speed: Fastest
Maps: WCG Gaia, WCG Estrella, WCG Paranoid Android (Maps will be noticed soon)
(* Each map may be modified by the WCG committee. Players will be informed before the tournament of any such modifications / Different maps may be used depending on national circumstances)
- The map selection may be changed prior to the tournament. Players will be informed of any such changes before the tournament.

Intentional Use of Game/Program Bugs: A warning at the minimum or Loss by Default
- Any other intentional practice that is determined as unfair and/or usage of a program bug, at the sole discretion of the board of referees, can result in a warning at the minimum or loss by default for the offending player.
- Allied Mines not allowed
- Stacked SCV not allowed
- Overlord + Lurker `Stop Position` bug not allowed
- Undetectable Observer not allowed
- Turret Stalling not allowed
- Flying Templar not allowed
- In case of Pylon and/or Gas bug, the match may be restarted at the referee`s sole discretion.

Disconnections
- Disconnection: Any disconnection between match players due to System, Network, PC, and/or Power problems/issues
- Intentional Disconnection: Upon judgment by the referee, any offending player will be charged with a loss by forfeit
- When any disconnection occurs:
1) If disconnection occurs within 5 minutes of start of match: match restart
2) If disconnection occurs after 5 minutes of start of match:
- If both players agree to a match restart, the match will be restarted.
- If the players cannot reach an agreement, the winner will be determined by a referee after the analysis of the match replay file.
- If the winner can not be decided by analyzing the match replay file, the players must agree to a match restart or forfeit the match.

Penalty for Unfair Play - Unfair Play
1) Use of any map hack program
2) Intentional disconnection
3) Use of any settings exceeding standard and permitted settings
4) During the course of any match, the operations staff and/or referee may determine other actions to be unfair play at any time.

- Upon discovery of any player committing any violations regarded as unfair play, that player will be disqualified from the tournament.
- Two warnings constitute being disqualified from the tournament.

These rules are for the WCG 2005 National Championship and are subject to modification in the following aspects.
- Use of most recent patch/version release of each official game within WCG committee`s own discretion.
- In-game settings and required factors necessitated by use of most recent patch version/release
- Cheat Protection Program release and/or cheat protection functions
- Game settings and/or operations guidelines dictated by differences between online and offline tournaments
IN FEBRUARY THE WORLD CYBER GAMES ASKED US GAMERS to give feedback on the official rules on the different games. They also promised that three prizes were to be handled out. The prize winners will receive a new NVIDIA Geforce 6800. "The winners were selected randomly by system", it says on the WCG site.
