A classic in the swarm of StarCraft fan sites is, and shall always be, Starcraft Evolution. This site is an image archive that has been safe keeping the development history of StarCraft for many years. One day maybe Blizzard will post its own archives, but until then we have Hunta's work, the creator of Starcraft Evolution, that you can also find its quasi-mirror at ScLegacy. Browsing though it I found their latest find, a screenshot of the StarCraft: Brood War Beta auto-start up screen.
The World Back Then: Brood War Beta
But time flies, things change and this short post is supposed to be about a new addition the Blizzard's official Ghost page. A new Wallpaper has recently been released in Ghost offical site. This is the world now.
The World Today: Latest Ghost Wallpaper
I want to see the new world. Who else? Think of this. Imagine the movies we make now about pro-gamers and uber micro, mixed with Ghost action. One part of screen you see a Broodwar Firebat micro mowing down a set of Zerglings, and in the other part of the screen you actually see the 3D-Firebat in Ghost do the deed.
Why not go a step further? Imagine thousands of young kids, who never tried StarCraft, but grow up playing Ghost. Imagine then, those same kids then asking themselves, "hey, lets try the original RTS and see what it was all about". Blizzard is sneaky. Our game will endure ten more years, easy.

The past and the present. Eight years and counting. A look at both. Which leaves us with the question: and the Future? Anyway, new Ghost wallpaper.
