After a long regular season it was clear that these two super teams were to play eachother in the finals of the SKY ProLeauge 2006 Round 2. Last round was won by SK T1, who stands as the contender for the winning team of the second round.
While CJ Entus have been sitting on their throne and preparing for this match for a very long time because of ending first in the regular season. MBCGame Hero on the other hand had to go through a playoff, taking down HanBit Stars and Lecaf OZ. An amazing playoff performance, especially by their ace of the team - Terran player Light. Before this match he had a 5-4 record, losing to strong opponents such as Daezang and Jaedong. While CJ Entus have their superstar Xellos, who is the team's front face. After a soso fall, Xellos now seem to have found his form. They also have Iris who has proved being a very solid player with a record of 3-2 and 1-0 in team games.
The first game in this spectacular final was between the reigning MBCGame StarLeague champion Savior versus Shark in a Zerg versus Zerg match on Arkanoid. Savior spawns at '5 and Shark at '7. Both players starts by going expansion at 12 pop along with pool and gas. While Shark adds another extractor on his expansion, Savior expands yet again but still only relies on one gas income. After some zerglings pounding at eachother they both move on to mutalisks and scourges.
Their mutalisks meet and fight, while Savior manages to get zerglings into Shark's main and taking down quite a number of workers. And even if Shark wins the mutalisk battle, Savior has the advantage thanks to Shark's lack of drones. Savior continues to mass mutalisks and scourges, and he does so well with three mineral and gas incomes compared to Shark's two. Attacking once again, it is too much for Shark who forces to type out and CJ Entus has a great start in this final.
Game two, and we have Much (5) and Pusan (10) on Tau Cross in yet another mirror matchup, only Protoss this time. Pusan starts with expanding at 14 pop while Much goes regular gateway and gas. After a while both players start their unit building - dragoons. And then an interesting pylon blockade gets build by Much in Pusan's main/natural choke. Pusan goes for a templar tech, while Much goes for Robotics Facility. Pusan takes down one of the pylons Much built but fails to take it down completely, making Much able to do a proxy Robotics there. Though when the Dark Templars are out for Pusan they switftly take down the pylon at the proxy, leaving the Robotics Facility unpowered.
Pusan then advances to Much's base with Dragoons and Dark Templars abd wuth the economic advantage. Much manages to push him out of the base and starts an expansion at his natural. But with speeded Zealots and Dragoons Pusan charges towards Much's natural, and not even well placed storms can stop Pusan, giving MBC Hero a precious point, evening out the score, 1-1.
The first 2on2 match was Rage (at 8) and Oversky (at 11) versus Saint (at 4) and Light (at 1) on the map Full Moon. Much thanks to the great team play by MBCHero's players Saint and Light they manage to win the game. Tanks and Valkyries from Light while Saint's mutalisks take down Oversky. Nice vulture drops from Light, crippling Oversky's economy. Rage's Dragoons were too clumsy and were hit hard by the spider mines and tanks.
Fourth game played on Longinus where Protoss player Bisu popped at 3 and Terran Iris at 7. Players go for a standard build, one Gateway/Barracks and early gas. Iris tried to secretely expand at the '11 mineral only, but Bisu saw it and didn't create it. Bisu expands at his natural with six Dragoons out, while Iris has a wall-in and expands as well at his natural. Adding more and more factories and slowly pushing with his tanks towards Bisu who has expanded at '12 as well. Iris tries to hold the position, but Bisu moves out with a group of dragoons and some zealots, but in the end of the high ground Iris takes down Bisu's force.
Iris then mines the entire area and advances forward wih his six tanks and a group of vultures. Too much for Bisu to handle, and he gives up. 2-2!
Fifth game, on Arcadia II between JulyZerg and Xellos. JulyZerg at '5 and Xellos at '11, cross positions. July goes for hatchery at his third mineral only and at his natural, and spawns his pool. Xellos goes for one Barracks and expands at his natural as well. After some waiting time, Xellos sees that July goes for a Spire, so Xellos adds two Engineering Bays and upgrades in both. He moves his respectable infantry army out while July has about 12 mutalisks which he decides to harass with. He managed to take down a few SCVs, but Xellos defended well. Xellos the decides to charge July's base, but mutalisks and zerglings take down his infantry line in the middle of the map.
Lurkers for JulyZerg and Factory with machine shop added for Xellos. Having this advantage, July attacks Xellos' natural.
After expanding yet again and pumping more and more Lurkers, Mutalisks and Zerglings JulyZerg takes down Xellos despite his Science Vessels, Tanks and infantry defense. And the player who was said to be in a slump showed how to play Zerg versus Terran.
The sixth game where MBC Hero could take it home ended in a success for TheZerg and Jaehoon. After a successful expand by Protoss player Jaehoon that was able to stay up marked their way to victory, and with Dark Templars clearly crippling Mingu. TheManiaMST tried his best but against two strong MBCGame Heroes smelling the scent of victory, he lost.
