Legionnaire and SEn are the foreigner pride of PGL StarCraft Open. With one match remaining in the first stage, their 'team' seems to become one of the top seeded once for the next stage, as they play in the last match tomorrow.

The 16 players have been put together in four groups in a way that is used often in the Korean professional leagues. Each group starts out with four players, where they get to choose any player from the list to be placed in the same group. The player that has been chosen will then choose a player, and so it goes until all the 16 players belongs to a group. Legionnaire explains the advanced format. The groups that has been chosen are teams in the beginning, as players in each group face off in a King of the Hill-formatted team war in a double elimination bracket. This to determine the ranks on the teams.

When the first stage is over, the players in each group will play each other to determine the ranks inside the groups. The third stage is still a bit blurry. But most likely it will be a straight up single elimination bracket where 1 faces 16 et cetera.

PGL StarCraft Open started off with Group A facing Group B on November 15th. The Korean Zerg player Sz.1 showed his strength and took down the whole B team by himself. This means that team A are ready for the second round of Winner Bracket while team B will play in the Loser Bracket.

Second round we got to see the foreign players SEn and Legionnaire show what they got. The Protoss Aussie lost to the Korean Terran player Thestc, and SEn to one of MeetYourMakers' Chinese star players - F91. Team D advances to play team A in the Winner Bracket Round 2, while team C will play the Loser Bracket against team B.

Hacker.Chinatttt 0-2 mYm.F91
Sz.1 0-2 mYm.F91
StrongeR 0-2 mYm.F91
[S.Top]Phoenix66 1-2 mYm.F91
mYm.F91 continues to play extremely well and takes down team A all by himself. Hacker.Chinatttt takes one game against ReGoG[Alive] but it did not help. Team D are now ready for the finals and team A moves down to the Loser Bracket.

Group B vs. Group C Loser Bracket Round 1

RushGooN 2-1 ToT)SEn(

In the Loser Bracket, team C with SEn, Legionnaire, Tosslife and Super gave team B little chance of advancing. SEn took one game but was then stopped by RushGooN. Then Tosslife stepped up and won three matches in a row. Ready for the Loser Bracket finals, while team B will be ranked fourth.

Group A vs. Group C Loser Bracket Round 2
Hacker_Chinatttt 0-2 Legionnaire
[S.Top]Phoenix66 1-2 Legionnaire
Sz.1 2-1 Legionnaire
Sz.1 1-2 Ehome.Super
Stronger 1-2 Ehome.Super
Yesterday Legionnaire proved that he is not only playing in these tournaments because of his name. After bad results in the World Cyber Games and losing to STX_Thestc earlier in the tournament, Peter "Legionnaire" Neate took down both Hacker_Chinatttt and Phoenix66 giving his team a solid 2-0 lead. He then lost to Sz.1 who made a nice all-kill earlier. Though the next team C player Super showed no mercy and took down Sz.1 and the Chinese player Stronger.

If the above said tournament system is correct, then Group C (Legionnaire's team) should play Group D (F91's team) in a match to decide the #1 ranking in the first stage. GosuGamers will keep you updated on tomorrow's game, and give you interviews with the some of the players as well.
