Do you remember them all? The Koreans are totally dominant in the World Cyber Games, always winning the golden medal for StarCraft. Though they are not invincible, proven by 21 non-Koreans that has defeated a Korean at least once.

The closest Korean take-down that comes to mind is of course last year's matches where Midas lost to both Draco and Cobo. Midas was close not advancing from the playoffs but could advance anyway since Draco defeated Mondragon.

Back in 2005 we saw quite a number of Korean defeats, especially from Silent_control. Testie, Reason and Androide defeated the Terran progamer - Testie and Reason in the group stage and Androide in semi final.

And for fOru, who ended up winning World Cyber Games 2005, actually lost to both Blackman and SlaSh in the group stage but managed to advance anyway.

In 2004, the Korean letdown was Midas, who lost to Advokate in group stage. Other than that, the Koreans were flawless, only losing to each other.

In 2003 on the other hand, a lot of foreigners managed to defeat the Koreans. H.O.T.-Forever lost to Potto, 6Club and HellGhost. The latter mentioned, HellGhost, actually took down the WCG 2003 champion ogogo in the group stage as well. H.O.T was not the only one who lost in 2003 - Silent_Control lost to both Grrr... and FiSheYe.

Back in 2002 the Koreans had a total of four (!) players attending: Boxer, Yellow, Oddysay and Junwi. Junwi, playing under the nickname Starsin, lost to ElkY and SuKeR, while Oddysay lost to the Bulgarian Bykli and the Polish player Blackman. Boxer, winning the tournament, lost to FroZ and JoSeZ in the group stage, while the last Korean Yellow was defeated only by Boxer.

The very first World Cyber Games, not counting the WCG Challenge in the year 2001, gave us four Koreans: GoRush, DoGGi, Boxer and Gundam. Boxer came out winning 100%, while Gundam suffered defeat of Nazgul and ElkY. DoGGi failed to advance to the playoffs, as he lost to Swedish JessE and Chinese player Deep. The last Korean, GoRush, lost to ElkY twice - first in the winner bracket playoffs and then in the loser bracket playoffs.

One should keep in mind that several of these losses in the group stage could have been made intentionally just to get a better run though the playoffs later.
