Earlier today, at 15:00, the tournament » Neil Young Anniversary started off. 14 players confirmed their participation, and we were good to go. Not many known players in the tournament took part, but one of them were the WCReplays audio shoutcaster verGe.Rainman, also known as Phreak. He proved to be the strongest player in the tournament, and took home the win after four rounds.

In the final, he played the Polish player h]rush, who won the semi-final against hu[master]. Unfortunately, hu[master] had to forfeit the last game in the best of three because of parental nagging. Although in the final, no parents could help rush this time. Phreak took two straight wins, and then they settled that the a best of three was enough since rush had to go. Phreak wins the game, match and thereby the tournament.
GosuGamers would like to thanks everyone who participated and sent in their replays to us. We will release a replay package as soon as we have collected them. This news will also be updated with an interview with Phreak as soon as possible.
First of all, congratulations to winning the tournament. How was the competition?
- Thanks! Well... it wasn't incup or anything, but there were some matches that I was lucky to win.
Which player were the toughest you played against?
- I'm torn between the round 1 match on Meadows which I won mostly because my opponent couldn't TP due to lag, and the semifinals, but I got really good spawns for the matchup. Overall, I'd have to say the semifinals guy.
Was there anything in the tournament you disliked? What of the map choices?
- The map choices were really standard so I don't have any gripes. The only problem I could have would be possibly getting a bad map draw in a bo1 round. I was lucky to have to face DexterousGamer in the semis where it was Turtle first and bo3. Otherwise the tourney was great =] just a little early in the morning for me (USwest)
So, you just joined verGe Gaming. Why did you decide to join them? How did it happen?
- Yep, it was recent. When verGe first emerged from x6, I somehow found out they were looking to add one more player, and of course was hoping that would be me. They were in WC3L, had a lot of good players, and respect in the community. As for how... I actually ended up following a friend into his tryout game, and then played a few games from there. I guess they let me in as a "rising talent" or something, someone with potential to be good enough for WC3L etc.
Do you think that you will be playing WC3L 9?
- I think I'll be playing a few times. I don't think I'll start every week or anything, but if there are a lot of Elf maps in the draw for instance, I've got a chance. I'm not guaranteeing winning or anything, though xD
