64 players started on Sunday at 12:00, here at DreamHack in Jönköping. A winner was to be crowned, and there surely were lots of players with enough hair on their backs to be able to win. How about MYM]Susiria and MYM]Storm? Or the two radar couple (Swedish saying) mouz.SaSe and SK.ElakeDuck? The previous DreamHack winner GeiL.Gia-ACT were also there, defending his throne. This was no doubt the most prestigious one, even if not amount wise.
After a couple of hours of gaming, we saw a couple of player upsets, such as the Winner Bracket Round 3 where MYM]Storm lost to ID.anty on the map Gnoll Wood. We also saw a top match pretty early, with MYM]Ciara playing against mouz.SaSe (playing under 77MyLady). Ciara got knocked out by SaSe, but in the next round SaSe got defeated by ElakeDuck. It was a great best of three match, with both players having dozens of people watching the game behind their backs. The replay is available in our » replay section, among many more.
The tournament took a break on Sunday, and was continued on Monday at 11:00. There we saw MYM]Ciara facing his clanmate MYM]Storm. The match was won by Storm, a match where the two sat right next to eachother, forcing their manager Army to put up their MeetYourMakers poster inbetween. Storm won the match, and was later up against MYM]Susiria (picture), in a match where they both went Random. Luckily for Susiria he popped with his main race Undead while Storm turned out to be Night Elf. A win for Susiria, who was knocked out of Winner Bracket against ElakeDuck earlier.
When the time grew nearer to the Grand Final, scheduled 17:30 in the main stage, shoutcasted by RandomNE and Raistlin, we were a bit short on time. The Loser Bracket Final between Susiria and Giacomo included three very tight games, ending 2-1 for the Czech Undead player, proving his great skill in mirror matches.
The Grand Final was played on stage, with the two players SK.ElakeDuck and GeiL.Gia-ACT facing eachother. The two games ended pretty quick, with ElakeDuck showing what a great player he is. He had not only the advantage of having 1-0 due to coming from Winner Bracket, it was also a psychological advantage, after beating Giacomo previously in the tournament. Among all the WSVG, ESWC and other tournaments here, the official DreamHack tournament was the biggest, and earlier tonight the finals were played. The Swedish player SK.ElakeDuck stood as the winner.
