E-sports in China becomes bigger and bigger:


The E-sport scene in China is growing rapidly and China has more than 60 million internet users, which is the worlds second highest amount with only the United States having more internet users. One fifth of them are Internet-based game players and the Beijing Sports Bureau, the government body which oversees the development of sports in Beijing, have officially recognized gaming as a true sport and as a result millions are expected to get attracted to the gaming scene in China Marcus Ho states. The current WCG Champion Sky (picture), who also finished first in PGL and IEF tournaments and is currently ranked as second in GosuGamers database, is one of the stars. Thousands of fans are going to the offline events, thousands are watching it live on television or internet streams. The e-sports scene is getting bigger than ever in China, one of the reason are the tournaments hosted on a regular basis.

WEG Masters, KODE5, CEG and other tournaments:


Marcus "Wind" Ho describes seven Chinese tournaments, some are rated as very competetive one's during a year. The WEG Masters, the most anticipated tournament in 2005, gathers the top teams from Asia, America and Europe. Over 20.000 fans attended to the WEG Masters 2006, 2 million watched it via the Internet streams. Another event which was held recently is KODE5 and it is one of most popular one's as he states:

Interview with Zax, head of Replays.net:


He is the head admin of Replays.net and founder of the famous team WE as well as the StarWars event. Hao "zax" Chou is a long time active member of the Chinese scene and one of the most important one's. Zax thinks that the e-sport scene of China will be similar to the scene in South Korea within 2~3 years. Some progamers in China have already a salary for playing computer games and this salary is higher than the average salary he tells, "about 300-400 euro, it might not be very high in Europe, but its enough in China." When asked how a daily life of a progamer in China is, he responds:

Almost similar to Korea's. They live together and we arrange house and food for them.


China is on the way to become an even more important e-sport country and is next to Korea one of the most developed e-sport countries.
