To prevent conveyor belt jams in Meow Blast!, only deploy cats when their matching color blocks are directly exposed on the outer layer of the puzzle board. Tapping a cat when its color is shielded behind other blocks causes it to sit idle on the conveyor belt. Because the belt has a limited number of waiting and firing slots, filling every slot with non-firing cats immediately results in a failed stage.

How Conveyor Belt Deployment Works

When you tap a cat in the waiting holding area, it moves onto the conveyor belt into an active firing slot. The cat behaves based on what is currently reachable on the board:

  • Direct Match Available: If matching color blocks sit in direct line of sight, the cat fires projectiles, eliminates the blocks, depletes its ammo, and exits the belt.
  • Target Block Blocked: If matching blocks are buried behind different-colored layers, the cat remains stationary in its belt slot and cannot fire.
  • Slot Jam: Each idle cat reduces your available buffer. When all belt slots become occupied by idle cats with no valid targets, you reach an irreversible gridlock and lose the stage.

Before tapping any cat, visually confirm that its color is already exposed on the front line.

Slot Capacity and Deployment Decisions

Every cat sent to the conveyor belt consumes a slot until its ammo is fully spent. Treat empty belt slots as your main safety margin and adjust your choices based on current capacity:

Belt StatusRisk LevelAction Required
All Slots OpenLowDeploy cats that eliminate outer barrier layers to expose new colors underneath.
Half Slots FullModerateOnly send cats that have clear, immediate targets that will fully exhaust their ammo.
One Slot LeftCriticalStop exploratory moves; deploy only the cat that can finish an exposed target group right now.
All Slots FullDefeatThe stage fails immediately due to gridlock; prevent this by never tapping ahead blindly.

Target Outer Layers Inward

Blocks are arranged in clustered geometric formations where interior colors remain protected until outer layers are destroyed. Work strictly from the outside in:

  1. Find the dominant perimeter color: Identify which color occupies the widest, most accessible portion of the formation's outer wall.
  2. Match against active staging cats: Look for cats in your waiting area that match this outer color, ignoring cats that match interior blocks for now.
  3. Clear the outer shell: Deploy the matching cats sequentially to shatter the outer layer.
  4. Shift to newly revealed colors: Once the perimeter clears, check the newly exposed layer and deploy cats matching that next color group.

Attempting to queue cats for colors that sit deep inside the cluster is the quickest way to clog the conveyor belt.

Unblocking Trapped Cats in the Staging Area

Crucial cats are often trapped behind other feline units in the staging zone. If you need a specific color to clear a perimeter block but an inactive cat is blocking it, calculate your slot cost before moving units:

  • Check required space: If clearing a blue cat requires moving an unneeded yellow cat out of the way first, you need at least two open slots on your conveyor belt.
  • Chain the sequence: Send the yellow cat onto the belt to sit idle, then immediately deploy the freed blue cat to break the blue wall.
  • Resolve the idle unit: Ensure that breaking the blue wall exposes yellow blocks so the first cat can fire its ammo and clear its slot.

Never move an inactive blocking cat to the belt unless you have enough remaining slots to deploy the unit behind it and clear the obstruction.

Pre-Move Deployment Checklist

Before tapping any cat, run through these four checks:

  1. Target Visibility: Is the matching color block completely exposed on the outer edge?
  2. Conveyor Capacity: Do you have enough open belt slots to handle this move safely?
  3. Queue Value: Does sending this cat open a path to a useful cat trapped behind it?
  4. Exit Certainty: Will this cat fully fire its ammo and exit the belt, or will it remain stranded in a slot?
