To clear combat encounters efficiently in Absolum, you must use dash-canceling to skip attack recovery frames, rely on environmental items to stun grouped enemies, and target high-threat ranged units as soon as you enter a room.

Executing Dash-Cancels in Skirmishes

Standard attacks in Absolum leave your character in a recovery animation upon finishing a strike, creating a window where enemy retaliations can hit you. You can cut short these recovery frames by inputting a dash immediately after your attack connects.

Adopt a "strike-dash-strike" rhythm during regular room clearouts:

  • Cancel Recovery: Tap the dash button the instant your melee attack registers on an enemy.
  • Reposition: Use the dash direction to shift to an enemy's flank or dodge an incoming swing without resetting your position in the attack chain.
  • Maintain Pressure: Execute your next attack immediately out of the dash to keep targets staggered while avoiding static combos that root your character in place.

Using Environmental Objects for Crowd Control

Loose debris, barrels, and environmental items scattered throughout combat arenas apply hit-stun, stagger, or knockback when thrown.

Use environmental throwables to keep groups under control:

  1. Identify a cluster of enemies or an enemy preparing an attack.
  2. Pick up a nearby debris object or barrel.
  3. Throw the object into the center of the mob to break up their formation or interrupt a boss wind-up animation.
  4. Follow up by dashing into the staggered group with melee strikes while they are unable to respond.

Using thrown objects is especially useful when your stamina or cooldowns are low, as it grants room control without spending combat resources.

Target Prioritization and Room Positioning

When entering a new arena, your first priority is eliminating backline threats. Ranged units and summoners disrupt your combat flow from afar, forcing you to waste dashes defensively.

Follow this sequence to clear rooms safely:

  • Focus Backline Targets: Dash directly past front-line melee units and kill ranged enemies and summoners first.
  • Herd Melee Clusters: Once backline threats are dead, dodge around the remaining melee enemies to drag them toward a wall, corner, or hazard cluster.
  • Apply Area Damage: Throw single objects into the tightly bunched group or hit them with wide melee attacks to damage multiple targets at once.

Managing Stamina and Positioning Against Bosses

Bosses in Absolum feature higher poise and faster recovery than normal enemies, making long, static combos dangerous. Exhausting your stamina bar with excessive dashes or heavy attacks leaves you incapable of dodging phase transitions and wide area-of-effect strikes.

Shift to a defensive bait-and-punish approach during boss fights:

  • Bait Telegraphs: Stand near the boss to trigger an attack animation, then dash to their blind spot.
  • Deliver Short Combos: Land a brief series of hits rather than full, extended attack strings.
  • Dash-Cancel Away: Input a dash-cancel out of your final hit to disengage to a safe distance before the boss recovers. Always save enough stamina to perform this exit dash.
