To play Sid effectively in Absolum, shift your focus from grounded brawling to vertical mobility and dash-canceling. Sid avoids heavy ground-based crowd control by staying airborne, using jump-attack sequences to hit enemies above their horizontal tracking arcs.

Aerial Positioning and Dash-Canceling

Sid relies on aerial presence to maintain pressure while staying safe from ground hit-stun traps. Staying above incoming enemy waves prevents ground mobs from pinning you against the edges of the room.

To keep your offensive rhythm going without leaving yourself open, use dash-canceling:

  1. Initiate an Aerial Combo: Execute jump-attack sequences to keep Sid above ground-tracking enemies.
  2. Cancel End-Lag: Input a dash immediately upon completing a strike to cut the recovery animation frames.
  3. Stutter-Step to Reposition: Chain your canceled recovery directly into a mid-air dodge or follow-up attack to move continuously across the room.
  4. Reserve Emergency Stamina: Avoid draining your stamina bar completely during combos. Always save enough stamina for at least one defensive dash away from incoming high-damage attacks.

Target Priority and Aggro Control

Sid’s speed allows him to bypass defensive frontline enemies. Use his mobility to target backline ranged units and support healers first, neutralizing major threats before engaging frontline guards.

If you draw too much aggro, jump over the main frontline to kite mobs into a tight cluster. Once grouped, hit them with splash-damage attacks or environmental throws to break their formation.

Incorporating Environmental Objects

Throughout Talamh, rooms contain interactable items like barrels, stones, and crates. Sid can pick up these objects mid-dash without breaking his movement speed.

  • Initiate with Throws: Toss crates or barrels into packed groups of enemies to inflict a temporary stun.
  • Capitalize on Stuns: Follow up a successful throw with a short aerial combo while targets are disoriented.
  • Save Stamina: Rely on object stuns for free crowd control, preserving your stamina bar for defensive dodges against elites and bosses.

Boss and Elite Bait-and-Punish Cycles

Do not commit to long, grounded combo strings against elite units or bosses. Because long attack chains leave Sid vulnerable, handle major encounters through quick bait-and-punish cycles:

  • Bait Attacks: Dash near the target to trigger their swing, then jump back to clear their reach.
  • Execute Short Strings: Move in immediately after their attack misses, deal a quick airborne sequence, and dash-cancel away before their recovery finishes.
  • Reset Positioning: Maintain distance to assess the boss's next move rather than forcing sustained close-quarters combat.
