In Absolum, throwing a Cider item creates a projectile attack that interrupts enemy animations and forces targets into a brief hit-stun state. To manage difficult rooms safely, save Cider items for high-density encounters, mid-tier elites, or shield-bearing enemies, throwing them from mid-range so you do not get punished during your item usage animation.

Inventory Priority and Usage Rules

Because Cider consumables serve as ranged area interrupts, keeping a steady supply prevents your health pool from wearing down during dense combat rooms.

  • Target Reserve: Try to hold two to three Cider items in your inventory before entering major combat zones.
  • High-Value Scenarios: Deploy Cider when entering rooms filled with aggressive swarms, shielded combatants, or high-damage elite units.
  • Low-Value Scenarios: Use base melee combos and standard movement on isolated basic mobs to save your consumables for tighter bottlenecks.

Throwing Position and Timing

To hit multiple enemies without taking counter-attacks, follow these spatial guidelines:

  1. Group the Target Pack: Funnel enemies together by backing toward an edge of the arena or waiting until fast melee foes close in into a single cluster.
  2. Maintain Mid-Range Distance: Position your character outside immediate melee strike range. Throwing from point-blank range leaves you open to damage during the throwing wind-up animation.
  3. Verify Line of Sight: Ensure no pillars, walls, or map geometry stand between you and your target group. Projectiles dissipate upon hitting environmental obstacles.
  4. Execute the Throw: Input the item command once enemies line up. The impact forces affected enemies into hit-stun, opening a window for follow-up melee combos or repositioning.

Poise Exceptions and Defensive Rules

Not every enemy in Absolum reacts identically to throwable impacts:

  • Armored Bosses and Elites: Certain bosses and mini-bosses possess high poise or hyper armor. A single Cider throw may fail to trigger hit-stun against these targets.
  • Test Before Committing: Throw one item to test if an elite target staggers before attempting a full attack sequence.
  • Defensive Reaction: If an enemy does not stagger upon impact, execute a defensive dash immediately to escape their recovery counter-attack.
