To survive the early encounters in the Absolum prologue, limit your attack sequences to short two- or three-hit bursts and immediately dash to cancel the recovery animation of your final strike. Relying on long combo strings against grouped enemies leaves your character exposed to counter-attacks during recovery frames.
Core Dash and Repositioning Techniques
The dash mechanic in Absolum grants invulnerability frames to pass through enemy hitboxes rather than just serving as a movement tool.
- Pass-Through Positioning: When an enemy begins an attack wind-up or glows to signal an aggressive posture, dash directly through them. This puts you behind the target and resets the engagement safely.
- Avoiding Corners: Never let enemy attacks push your character into the screen boundaries. Dashing through incoming mobs keeps you in open maneuvering room.
- Managing Mob Density: Do not stand your ground in the center of an arena where fast or ranged enemies can circle you. Kite groups toward screen edges or narrow corridors to force enemies into a single line.
Handling Attack Recovery and Combos
Every melee attack carries animation commitment. Execute combat encounters using a three-step sequence:
- Observe Triggers: Watch for the enemy's attack initiation or stance shift.
- Flank the Target: Dash behind or to the side of the enemy to break their targeting line.
- Execute and Cancel: Land a short attack burst (2–3 hits max), then input a dash right as the last hit connects to cancel the remaining recovery animation.
If enemies cluster tightly, stop your offensive sequence immediately and dash to a neutral zone to regroup rather than forcing an extended combo.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Absolum articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This saved me time in the early game.
Good guide for Absolum players. The early game part was useful.
