Complete the tutorial tasks first. Afterward, keep your gear affordable: work toward Tier 3 from a starter Tier 2 set, but do not spend so much that replacing lost equipment would leave you short on silver.
Finish the tutorial, then choose your gear
The tutorial introduces basic interactions and combat. Follow its instructions and use the equipment it provides as your starting point. Once you move on, choose a weapon that suits how you want to fight; your equipped gear determines your combat setup.
You can focus on one weapon line while learning, but there is no need to treat that choice as permanent. Keep your current equipment equipped while you progress, and change it when you have a reason to try a different setup.
Upgrade without risking all your silver
Tier 2 and Tier 3 are useful reference points for early gear progression. Work toward Tier 3, but weigh an upgrade against what it would cost to replace your gear if you die. Lower-tier equipment you can afford to lose may be a safer choice while you are still learning combat.
Sell spare materials through the market if you need silver for gear. Avoid spending early funds on equipment you do not need, and keep enough silver available to replace the items you take into risky areas.
Gather materials as you travel
Gathering can provide materials to sell or use for crafting. Pick up resources along your route when doing so fits your current goal; you do not need to stop for every node if you are focused on another task. Use gathered materials to build up your silver or supply your crafting, rather than assuming every resource is worth selling.
