To win the Slayer Lane with Amily in Arena of Valor, isolate your opponent away from minion waves to trigger her passive damage multiplier, sustain through short trades using Skill 1, and equip a hybrid bruiser build that balances offensive armor penetration with defense.
How to Trigger Amily's Passive (Duelist)
Amily's combat strength revolves around her passive, Duelist. When her basic attacks or second ability hit only a single target, she deals 50% bonus damage. Striking multiple enemies, creeps, or jungle units with the same hit cancels this bonus entirely.
- Avoid trading inside minion waves: Do not trade basic attacks while standing inside an active enemy wave. Minions inside your swing radius will negate the 50% bonus.
- Pull the wave: Draw the opposing minions toward your tower, or wait for the enemy hero to step into the river bushes or lane margins before committing to basic attacks.
- Angle jungle camps: When invading or farming monsters, position Amily on the outer edge of the camp so her cleave hits only the primary monster.
Recommended Bruiser Build Path
Amily needs cooldown reduction, physical attack, and defensive bulk. A glass-cannon build leaves her vulnerable to crowd control, while a pure tank setup wastes her natural single-target burst.
| Item Slot | Item Name | Primary Function |
|---|---|---|
| Boots | Gilded Greaves | Provides magic defense and resistance to reduce crowd control durations. |
| Core Damage | Spear of Longinus | Supplies attack damage, cooldown reduction, physical defense, and armor shred. |
| Dueling Armor | Frost Cape | Adds physical defense, maximum health, cooldown reduction, and a slowing field on hits. |
| Magic Defense | Medallion of Troy | Grants a magic shield, magic defense, and cooldown reduction against mage burst. |
| Heavy Damage | Fenrir's Tooth | Increases raw attack power and provides execution damage against targets below 50% health. |
| Survival Active | Blade of Eternity | Grants a late-game revive; swap to Rock Shield when the revive is on cooldown. |
Situational Item Swaps
- Against heavy physical damage: Buy Sonic Boots instead of Gilded Greaves early to blunt auto-attack lane bullies.
- When your team has enough front-line tanks: Replace Frost Cape with Omni Arms to increase your split-push clearing speed and burst potential against squishy heroes.
Ability Combos and Trading Sequence
Amily controls lane spacing by cycling Skill 1 (Kick). This ability throws a bouncing blade that damages targets, slows them, refunds cooldown, grants movement speed, and heals Amily upon returning.
Use Skill 1 to chip away at the enemy while remaining healthy. Once the enemy drops below roughly 60% health or spends their primary mobility skill, execute this full combat sequence:
- Cast Skill 1 (Kick): Slow the target and use the gained movement speed to close the distance.
- Engage with Skill 2 (Combo): Dash forward with the two-part kick to displace the enemy and knock them airborne.
- Land the Enhanced Basic Attack: Strike immediately with the empowered attack granted by Skill 2, ensuring only that target is hit to trigger Duelist.
- Trigger Ultimate (Enrage): Activate your ultimate if the opponent commits to a prolonged brawl. This grants bonus attack damage, flat damage reduction, and a persistent magic damage aura.
- Pursue with Basic Attacks: Chase down the target using the ultimate's bonus movement speed while resetting Skill 1 to secure the kill.
Slayer Lane Wave Management and Roaming
Once Amily completes Spear of Longinus, she clears minion waves rapidly using the cleave from Skill 2 and the bounces from Skill 1.
Do not freeze minion waves passively. Shove the wave quickly under the opponent's tower to create roaming windows. During these intervals, invade the enemy jungle to steal isolated small creeps or the blue buff, or rotate into the middle lane to initiate ganks with Skill 2's displacement. Return to your lane before the next cannon wave reaches your tower to preserve your solo gold income.
Teamfight Target Selection
Amily should enter teamfights as a secondary initiator or flanker rather than charging front-to-back into grouped enemies. Entering grouped teamfights directly disables her passive and exposes her to burst damage before her ultimate's defense stabilizes her health.
Wait for your front line to absorb the enemy team's primary crowd control skills. Approach from jungle flanks or brush lines to reach isolated backline marksmen or mages. Trigger Enrage just before closing the gap so the transformation burst coincides with your Skill 2 knockback. Use the flat damage reduction from Enrage to withstand retaliation while eliminating the carry, then clean up remaining targets on the perimeter.
