To win late-game teamfights and stage comebacks with Elsu, stop staying scoped in Skill 2 once full clashes begin. Long-range snipes soften targets before an engage, but active 5v5 teamfights require switching to basic-attack kiting behind your frontline, tapping Skill 2 instantly at close range, and holding your ultimate strictly to escape enemy dive attempts.

Shifting From Sniping to Auto-Attack Kiting

Staying stationary to charge snipes during an active teamfight drastically lowers your overall damage and leaves you exposed to crowd control. Use your charged shots during standoff phases, then immediately rely on basic attacks once frontlines clash.

PhasePrimary ActionPositioningTactical Goal

Mid-Fight CollapseBasic attacks + quick-tap Skill 2Behind vanguard tanksShred diving bruisers with passive armor pierce
DisengagementUltimate (Disengage)Leap backward over terrainEscape assassin burst and slow pursuers

When enemy bruisers or tanks charge your position:

  1. Release or cancel your snipe charge immediately. Do not stand still hoping to finish a long-range shot when threats enter attack range.
  2. Weave basic attacks from behind your vanguard. Elsu’s passive converts critical strike chance into flat physical attack power, giving his basic attacks immense single-target damage.
  3. Execute point-blank quick-taps on Skill 2. Tap Skill 2 instantly without aiming between basic attacks. This cancels basic attack recovery animations and injects burst damage into diving targets without locking your movement.

Vision Setup with Sentinel Traps

When defending against high-ground sieges or entering unwarded territory, place Sentinel traps before minion waves reach your base.

  • Anchor jungle choke points: Place traps at the outer intersections and entrances of jungle corridors rather than in lane brushes. Traps reveal approaching targets and strip stealth, preventing flanking assassins like Nakroth, Murad, or Aoi from bypassing your frontline.
  • Punish ward-clearing enemies: When an opposing player steps on a Sentinel to deactivate it, they are briefly revealed. Immediately use that reveal window to line up a charged Skill 2 shot.

Surviving Dive Pressure With Your Ultimate

Save Elsu’s ultimate as a defensive disengage rather than an offensive finisher. Late-game dive heroes will wait to jump you until your tools are exhausted.

  • Wait for the commitment: Do not panic-cast your ultimate when an assassin approaches. Wait until they fully spend their gap-closing ability.
  • Leap across terrain: Aim your jump so that your backward dash carries you over a jungle wall or base threshold.
  • Leverage the slow: The backward shot damages and applies a heavy slow to the diving enemy while giving Elsu a burst of movement speed. This creates distance and allows peeling supports to lock down the isolated diver.

High-Ground Defense and Item Priorities

When defending base inhibitors against empowered waves, stand near the perimeter wall rather than directly beneath the tower. Hugging terrain activates Elsu's passive camouflage and bonus movement speed. Align your charged Skill 2 shots along the path of incoming minion waves so the piercing projectile clears minions while damaging the marksman walking behind them.

Build these late-game items to maximize damage output and survivability:

  • Muramasa: Combines with Elsu’s stationary passive stacks to shred tank armor. Standing still before an engagement stacks his passive armor penetration to maximum value.
  • Fenrir's Tooth: Increases execution damage against targets below half health, turning long-range snipes into lethal hits.
  • Blade of Eternity / Death Sickle: Rotate between these defensive options in the late game to survive coordinated dives during critical base defense stands.
