To beat Level 1069 in Block Out, consolidate exposed matching color tiles into designated sorting columns while keeping at least one empty buffer slot open to route buried pieces. The board features vertically fragmented stacks where misplaced blocks quickly eliminate your transfer capacity. Solving the level requires peeling top-layer caps to match existing bases, clearing completed colors, and avoiding moves that leave isolated single blocks stranded in open lanes.
Column Roles and Space Management
Preserving open transfer space is the primary requirement for solving Level 1069. Assign every open column a specific function rather than moving blocks into any available vacancy:
- Dedicated Sorting Columns: Reserve these lanes exclusively for building a single target color. Never place a mismatched tile on top of a partially assembled column, as doing so paralyzes the stack until that top tile can be relocated.
- Transient Buffer Slots: Use empty columns strictly for temporary staging. Shift an obstructive top tile into a buffer slot only when that move immediately reveals a playable match beneath it, then evacuate the buffer as soon as a legal target opens.
Leaving an empty lane open gives you the flexibility needed to dig through deep stacks. Stashing a single dead-end block into your only vacant column without an immediate follow-up move will stall the board.
Move Priority Sequence
Because moves cannot be undone without resets or rewinds, every transfer must increase board mobility. Use this sequence to evaluate potential moves:
| Priority | Target Action | Primary Objective |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Match exposed top tiles | Consolidate identical surface colors without taking up empty buffer lanes. |
| 2 | Expose grouped base blocks | Move single-block caps to uncover matching pairs or triplets beneath them. |
| 3 | Complete and clear full sets | Finish single-color columns to permanently free up full-depth transfer lanes. |
| 4 | Reorganize deep fragments | Transfer isolated single colors into newly cleared columns once capacity opens. |
Execute moves using the following order:
- Scan top layers for immediate pairs: Check the surface of all columns before using empty space. Merging two visible matching tiles consolidates the color and deepens available column space.
- Target shallow obstructions: Identify columns where removing a single surface block reveals two or more identical blocks directly underneath. Clearing these shallow caps creates large receiver stacks for other loose pieces on the board.
- Leave heavily fragmented stacks for the mid-game: Stacks containing three or four alternating colors require multiple holding slots to untangle. Leave these untouched until you have cleared at least one full color set to serve as an open staging area.
Avoiding Deadlocks and Reset Conditions
Deadlocks on Level 1069 typically happen during the final phase, when players scatter unmatched single blocks across the remaining open columns.
Before placing any block into an empty slot, trace its exit path:
- Confirm that the piece resting underneath can immediately transfer to an existing matching stack.
- If the revealed tile also has no valid home, leave the source column alone; transferring the top tile will only freeze two columns instead of one.
- When sorting isolated singles, always feed the color that has the largest existing stack elsewhere on the board to clear that lane faster.
When to Restart the Level
Restart Level 1069 if your board reaches any of these conditions:
- Every column holds at least one block, no two surface tiles share the same color, and zero empty buffer columns remain.
- You are cycling the same two blocks between alternate columns without uncovering a new tile or completing a color set.
When a cycle repeats without progress, reset the stage to restore the original layout and execute your opening moves with priority given to paired top-layer tiles.

Good guide for Block Out players. The base building part was useful.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Block Out articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
