To win battles in Browndust2 - Adventure RPG, place your units on the 3x4 combat grid according to their functional roles and conserve your Skill Points (SP) for high-impact turns. Setting unit positions before battle dictates which enemies your skills target and determines which heroes absorb enemy attacks.
How to Set Grid Formation and Roles
Before initiating an encounter, drag your heroes onto the 3x4 formation tiles to line up their attacks and set your defensive layout.
- Front Row (Tanks): Place high-durability units in the front row to intercept incoming damage and draw enemy fire away from weaker allies.
- Middle/Flexible Rows (DPS): Position damage dealers where their Area of Effect (AoE) patterns overlap with enemy clusters. Check the skill highlight pattern when selecting a unit to verify how many target tiles the skill covers.
- Back Row (Support): Place healers and buffers in the backline to keep them safe from direct attacks while they support the team.
If an attack misses key targets during combat setup, move a hero one tile to the left or right. Adjusting a single tile alters the pathing of their skills and can help hit secondary targets that were previously out of reach.
Managing Skill Points (SP)
Skill Points govern your ability to execute active skills. Because your initial SP pool is limited, balance low-cost actions with your strongest abilities:
- Build Reserves: Use basic attacks or low-cost utility skills during the first turns to store SP.
- Execute Burst Phases: Save accumulated SP to fire high-cost abilities when facing dense enemy groups, elite units, or boss waves.
- Check Skill Profiles: Review individual character profiles before battle to confirm exact SP costs and plan turn rotations efficiently.
