Before locking in your turn in Browndust2 - Adventure RPG, assess enemy tile positions on the 3x4 grid, check your shared Skill Point (SP) costs, and adjust unit turn order to eliminate high-threat targets or set up area-of-effect (AOE) attacks.

Managing Shared Skill Points (SP)

Your party shares a single SP pool during tactical combat rounds. Every skill icon on a character's ability bar displays an explicit SP cost, meaning heavy spending by your primary damage dealers can leave other units unable to activate utility or defensive skills during the same turn.

To maintain resource balance throughout a round:

  • Check ability costs before acting: Verify SP requirements on each unit's skill bar prior to confirming combat moves.
  • Prioritize high-value actions: Spend SP on high-damage AOE attacks when your pool is full, but hold enough points back for essential crowd control or defensive maneuvers.
  • Avoid early depletion: Expending all SP at the start of a turn leaves the team unable to respond if enemies survive or counter-attack in subsequent phases.

Strategic Unit Placement on the 3x4 Grid

Unit placement determines which grid tiles your skills reach. Abilities hit specific configurations, such as full rows, single columns, or multi-tile clusters. Failing to account for enemy formations causes wide-range abilities to waste SP on a single enemy target.

Before finalizing grid positions for a wave:

  1. Observe enemy layouts to identify clustered targets or back-line threats.
  2. Line up attackers on rows or columns that allow their specific skill ranges to hit multiple foes.
  3. Position units to bypass enemy frontline tanks when aiming to strike high-value targets in the back row.
  4. Swap between physical and magical attackers based on enemy defense types to prevent low-damage bottlenecks.

Sequencing Turn Execution

While the game determines baseline turn availability, you control the sequence in which your deployed units cast skills within a round. You can monitor upcoming unit activations on the turn order bar located at the top of the combat screen.

Early Turn Priority

Use units with high-damage, single-target skills early in your turn sequence. Striking first allows you to eliminate dangerous enemy damage dealers before they execute their own actions during the enemy phase.

Late Turn Setup and Utility

Reserve support units and characters with repositioning skills for later in the turn order sequence. Units capable of applying knockback effects can push scattered enemies into adjacent tiles, grouping them tightly so your secondary attackers can hit them with follow-up AOE skills.
