During your first two weeks as a free-to-play player in Chaos Zero Nightmare, invest all available stamina and upgrade materials into a single three-unit core team. Spreading resources across four or more combatants will starve your account of breakthrough materials, stalling your progress in the story campaign and locking you out of higher-tier daily farming stages.

Once your primary team can reliably clear high-difficulty resource stages, building secondary teams or alternate damage types becomes much faster.

Core Trio Structure and Investment Priorities

Build a balanced trio consisting of one primary damage dealer (Carry), one offensive support (Buffer or Sub-DPS), and one defensive support (Sustain). Allocate your resources unevenly to get the highest power return for your stamina.

Squad RoleUpgrade PriorityPrimary Resource TargetFunctional Goal
Main CarryPriority 1Character level, attack skills, primary weaponDeal primary team damage and eliminate threats quickly
Buffer / Sub-DPSPriority 2Action Point generation, utility nodes, deck cyclingAccelerate card rotation and amplify Carry damage
Sustain (Heal / Shield)Priority 3Defensive multipliers, baseline survival cardsKeep the team alive through boss encounters

Upgrade Allocation Rules

  • Allocate 60% of resources to the Carry: Keep your Carry leveled to your current account cap at all times. Prioritize unlocking offensive passive nodes and damage-dealing cards before investing in their defensive stats. Eliminating enemies in fewer turns reduces incoming damage and eases the burden on your support unit.
  • Run supports on a budget: Keep your Buffer and Sustain units 10 to 15 levels below your Carry. Upgrade them only to the minimum promotion thresholds needed to unlock their core utility passives and deck manipulation cards. As long as their health pools withstand ambient area-of-effect damage, extra defensive levels can wait.

Daily Stamina Routing

Spend early stamina exclusively on guaranteed character progression rather than randomized drop pools.

  1. Push the Main Campaign: Clear normal and hard story nodes until you hit an account level gate. Campaign milestones award large quantities of account experience, which unlock higher domain tiers.
  2. Farm Targeted Breakthrough Items: When blocked by campaign requirements, spend stamina on the specific promotion and ascension domains needed to push your Carry to the next rank.
  3. Farm Experience and Currency Nodes: Spend remaining daily stamina on character experience items and gold domains to fund your Carry's level upgrades.
  4. Skip Gear and Memory Fragment Domains: Low-tier gear farming yields weak stat returns that are quickly replaced. Equip basic, unrolled baseline gear found through natural story progression and save gear farming for higher-tier domains.

Deck Trimming and Save Archives

Card flow dictates your combat efficiency. In the first two weeks, focus on deck consistency rather than chasing perfect card mutations.

  • Remove Basic Cards at Rest Stops: Use campfires and removal nodes to cut weak, high-cost baseline cards from your Carry and Sustain decks. Keeping your total card count lean lets your Carry draw primary damage cards every two turns.
  • Accept Functional Save Archives: Do not spend reset tokens chasing ideal Epiphany card mutations early. Settle for a functional Save Archive that provides reliable card draw and balanced Action Point costs. Lock in an operational run to maintain progress, then optimize archives later when higher difficulty tiers are unlocked.

Currency and Banner Management

Early premium currency management dictates your roster flexibility later in the game.

  • Spend Premium Currency Only on Featured Banners: Reserve premium summon tokens for rate-up banners that feature top-tier carries or versatile universal supports.
  • Do Not Buy Standard Summons: The campaign, tutorial tasks, and account milestone rewards provide enough standard tickets over time. Spending premium currency on the standard banner is inefficient.
  • Limit Stamina Refreshes: Limit premium currency stamina refills to at most one cheap refresh per day. Natural stamina regeneration is sufficient for routine farming, while banner currencies are strictly limited.
